President Of Hong Kong Textile Industry Federation: Hong Kong Is Still Important In The Global Textile Supply Chain

Asia's large-scale fashion and textile industry exhibition - Hong Kong Fashion Festival was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from April 27-30. During the exhibition, Luo Zhengjie, president of the Hong Kong Textile Industry Association, said in an interview with chinanews.com that Hong Kong is still important in the global textile supply chain.

He said that Hong Kong, with its advantageous geographical location, perfect legal system and convenient language exchange, has attracted large international textile enterprises to establish headquarters here, which is an ideal trade and procurement base for the textile industry. Hong Kong's textile industry is undergoing transformation, adapting to the new market environment by combining creative industries, brand investment and capacity transfer.

This Hong Kong Fashion Festival gathered about 400 global exhibitors, including about 60 material suppliers to display advanced fashion materials. The organizer also specially invited five Hong Kong designers to show their innovative material fashion works.

Luo Zhengjie said that in recent years, the Hong Kong SAR government has strongly supported the textile industry in combination with the development of the creative industry, set up special funds and activities to help local brands and designers move to the international stage, such as providing design museums for young designers, encouraging them to play their creativity, and forming a good situation of coordinated development. Some scientific research institutions and university research centers have also gained in the research and development of new materials.

Luo Zhengjie said that Hong Kong's textile industry is transforming towards high value-added and intelligent development, focusing on designing and building international brands. The industry has built factories in Southeast Asia and mainland China for many years, forming a sound and stable supply chain, and continuously consolidating the important position of Hong Kong's textile industry in the global supply chain.
