Designer Dolce&Gabbana Faces Tax Evasion Charges

LauraPedio accused the two designer partners of evasion of 1 billion euros and asked them to appear in court on April 1st.
LucianoPatelli, a fashion designer's tax consultant, accepted the trial of SimoneLuerti, a trial judge, at the hearing on Friday.
Investigators completed the survey of DomenicoDolce, StefanoGabbana and other five people of the fashion company in October last year.
According to Italy's "24 hours Sun" report, the company did not declare tax on 840 million euros in revenue.
Related allegations pointed out that during the period from Dolce&Gabbana2004 to 2005, Luxemburg set up a company controlled by the group brand to evade Italy's tax revenue.
The indictment stated that the total amount of unpaid taxes amounted to 420 million euros.
DolceandGabbana denied the charges on Friday, but the company and its representatives were unable to comment immediately.
Since the global financial crisis, Italy has been severely combating the widespread tax evasion in order to increase government revenue.
Dolce&Gabbana was founded in 1985, with a staff of up to 3000 people. As of 2009, it has 116 sales outlets and 17 factory outlets.
