Li Kaifu: Our Business Objective Is &Nbsp; Create Valuable Companies.

    2010/6/12 15:41:00 119

    Entrepreneurship

"What we want to do is to grasp the company that will become the next Baidu or Tencent in ten years, and create valuable companies."

    Editor's note:

According to China Daily, recently, CEO Li Kaifu, an Innovation workshop, took an exclusive interview with China Daily to give a comprehensive exposition of the business objectives, corporate culture and entrepreneurial experience of innovation workshops.

Li Kaifu said that the current goal is to find companies that may become the next Baidu or Tencent and create more great companies in China.

At the same time, Li Kaifu also gave advice on the development of Internet start-ups: remember that teamwork is more important than creativity, dare to hire smarter employees, create an open and pparent corporate culture, and do not regard listing as the sole goal of creating a company.

The following is an excerpt from Li Kaifu's viewpoint.

    Li Kaifu:

Our business objective is to create valuable companies. We must focus on this, because this is what investors want us to do.

    First-class

    Entrepreneur

It's often hard to find them, because they may be low-key, unwilling to get too much attention, and will not take the initiative to seek your help. You have to find them and explore them.

You can't just say, send your resume and business plan.

Many of the best entrepreneurs have their own fixed patterns. They will only contact you when they feel fit.

If you want to be their investor, you have to go to them instead of waiting for them to come to you.

What we want to do is to grasp the possibility of becoming the next Baidu or Tencent company after ten years. We do not want to miss the opportunity. We hope to catch some of these enterprises, preferably the majority, at least some.

You can recall the history of China's Internet development and the stories of the most successful companies, such as Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent.

If we just wait for an opportunity, the next Robin Li, Ma Yun or Ma Huateng may or may not take the initiative to find us.

But if we go out and look for talented people everywhere, we will increase the chances of finding the next Ma Huateng or Ma Yun.

At the same time, our work will produce other important results.

One of them is that immersed in the culture of innovative workshops, entrepreneurs and engineers can and will become leaders of the next generation of entrepreneurs and engineers.

Some will start their own company, some of them will succeed and become the next CEO, others will fail at the beginning, but eventually they will go back to success.

Some may find that they should join a bigger business, some may enter the government, and so on.

I think my greater contribution will be corporate culture and atmosphere.

What I left to Microsoft and Google is not just products or technology, but more importantly, those who I influenced, taught and helped, their lives will be more successful, more upright, and become part of an everlasting enterprise. They may also contribute to China's future.

This is the legacy I really want to leave.

But I can't spend all my time in this area, because I still need to build great.

    company

At the same time, if you visit, you will find our atmosphere very open and lively.

We share everything openly, encourage each other, care about the society, and pay close attention to the sustainable development of enterprises.

We will not cheat consumers or write viruses. We will not do evil.

I think it is possible to create a series of companies that stick to values and have excellent corporate culture.

When these companies go out of the Innovation workshop, I hope that a year with me can help them have better values and build a better corporate culture. Their company is committed to long-term development and may become an international brand someday.

This is the legacy I really want to leave.

However, my daily arrangements mainly focus on making these companies successful and profitable.

Don't start your company too early unless you think it's ready.

    Because in relation to

    Entrepreneurship

There are some wrong ideas about people.

On the one hand, people are too optimistic and fail to realize that the failure rate is actually very high.

Of the 1000 companies, 999 will fail.

    You must realize this.

The second aspect is that people think they have very good ideas and will take them far away.

But first of all, this idea may not be as good as they think.

Most of the success factors of the second, first emerging companies are team related, team members, discipline, implementation and experience.

    Creativity is the second.

    They should realize this.

Third, their preparation may be lower than expected, especially when they have just graduated from school without any work experience.

So they had better join a new company first, learn from it, observe whether there will be a good founder, whether there is a CEO or not, and then set up a company in a few years.

    It's not too late.

Don't think that you must go to college when you graduate and have no experience at all.

If you study first, you will increase the probability of success.

From now on, the team is the most important.

Because in terms of creativity, your creativity may be wrong.

Many other people may have the same ideas.

At the same time, most companies have been changing their creativity.

You can have a look at Google, Baidu, Tencent or Alibaba.

Ma Yun's first company was "China Yellow Pages". Ma Huateng's first company was an outsourced company, and Robin Li's first company engaged in search for Sina.

Great changes have taken place in them.

Don't think creativity will take you far away. If you think the idea will never change, the three of them will not succeed.

I think it is personal adaptability and persistence to lead them to succeed, rather than an original idea.
