　　 The spring breeze is warm and everything is fresh. In this hopeful season, the National Two Sessions will be held in Beijing.

　　 2025 is the end of the "14th Five Year Plan" and the planning year of the "15th Five Year Plan". It is also a key year to further deepen the reform comprehensively. Standing at a new historical starting point, Textile and Garment Weekly specially opened a column called "New Chapter of the Two Sessions" to focus on the representatives from the textile industry to understand their contributions and focuses in the industry, follow their steps, feel the spring tide of the textile industry together, and draw a grand picture of the textile industry in the new era.

　　 China is the largest textile producer and consumer in the world. The total amount of textile fiber processing accounts for more than half of the world. There is a huge stock of waste textiles in China, but the potential application space needs to be explored. Our country produces more than 6 million tons of waste textiles every year, and the recycling rate is only about 20%, far lower than 94% of the recycling rate of waste polyester bottles. It is urgent to build a resource recycling industrial system and a recycling system of waste materials.

　　 This year, Wu Jifa, deputy to the National People's Congress and deputy general manager of Shaoyang Textile Machinery Co., Ltd., will bring "suggestions on accelerating the recycling and reuse of waste textiles and strengthening the research of technical equipment".

　　 At present, there are certain blocking points and sticking points in the recycling and reuse of waste textiles in China. First, there are large stocks of waste textiles, scattered recycling channels, small scale and non-standard. Second, there is a bottleneck in the whole process production equipment of waste textiles and recycled fibers. Third, the recycling of waste textiles lacks policy incentives.

　　 Wu Jifa said that the government departments have identified the development direction. The Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Recycling of Waste Textiles (FGHZ [2022] No. 526) issued by the National Development and Reform Commission proposed to "improve the recycling system of waste textiles... accelerate the breakthrough in a number of key technologies and equipment for fiber identification, efficient sorting, separation and recycling of blended materials of waste textiles". To this end, he suggested that the first is to build a systematic and standardized national recycling network of "waste clothing". The second is to improve the waste textile recycling system and series of standards. Third, increase the investment support for major technical equipment for recycling and reuse of waste textiles. Fourth, we will increase fiscal, tax and financial support for the recycling and reuse of waste textiles.
