World Earth Day: UN Secretary General Guterres Urgently Calls For A State Of Emergency For Global Climate

　　 April 22, 2022 is the 53rd world earth day. Every year, April 22 is a festival specially set up for the protection of the world's environment. Earth Day was launched by Gerard Nelson and Dennis Hayes in 1970. Today, the celebration of Earth Day has developed to 192 countries around the world, with more than 1 billion people participating in it every year, making it the largest folk environmental protection festival in the world.

　　 Recently, the latest report released by the Intergovernmental Panel on climate change (IPCC) of the United Nations shows that the average annual global greenhouse gas emissions from 2010 to 2019 are at the highest level in human history. There is no immediate report of global warming within 1.5 ℃. Climate change is approaching an irreversible tipping point.

　　 U.N. Secretary General Guterres made an urgent appeal on the report that the global climate has entered a state of emergency. "With climate action regressing, renewable energy efforts must now triple. To keep the 1.5 ℃ limit within reach, we need to reduce global emissions by 45% within this decade."
