    At the conference, the film free cotton planting technology developed by Yu Shuxun, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, was highly praised by the experts attending the meeting, believing that it is of great significance to promote the sustainable development of China's cotton industry and improve the international competitiveness of the cotton industry.

    In Xinjiang, plastic film mulching technology can increase temperature and moisture, inhibit weeds, prevent diseases and insects, and increase crop yield by 20% ~ 30% on a large scale. However, with the increasing use of plastic film in Xinjiang cotton field, the recovery rate of residual plastic film has been low, the amount of residual film in the soil gradually increased, the soil structure was seriously damaged, the quality of cultivated land gradually decreased, and became the main component of cotton "three silk" pollution, which seriously affected the quality of machine picked cotton in Xinjiang. In view of the present situation of "no plastic film resistant" and "no film" cultivation technology of "Zhongyuan cotton No. 619" was successfully developed. The team's "cultivation of new varieties of film free cotton in southern Xinjiang and its supporting technologies" were successfully selected into the top ten new technologies in China's agricultural and rural areas in 2019, and was rated as "a technology with subversive potential to solve the residual film pollution in cotton fields" by peer experts, and "it has innovated a subversive potential technical approach to thoroughly solve the residual film pollution in cotton field, and the key technologies have reached the international leading level.".

    It is understood that academician Yu Shuxun put forward the concept of plastic film free cotton cultivation in Xinjiang as early as 2011, and led the team members and relying on the national cotton industry technology system and other platforms to take the lead in the breeding of new varieties of early maturing, drought resistance, salt and alkali resistance, supporting technology research, and achievement demonstration. In 2019, academician Yu Shuxun also presided over the "green development and modernization strategy research of Rural Revitalization in China's cotton region" established by Chinese Academy of engineering.

    It is understood that "Zhongmian 619" has a growth period of 120 days under the condition of no film mulching in southern Xinjiang, with a flower rate of 95% before frost and an average yield of 350 kg / mu. The characteristics of early maturity, salt alkali tolerance and low temperature tolerance of the strain can guarantee the emergence rate and seedling rate of cotton under the condition of no film mulching.

    During the meeting, experts attending the meeting observed and identified the planting effect of "Zhongmian 619". It is believed that with the joint efforts of China's cotton experts and the vast number of participants in the cotton industry, the "film free cotton" industry will become bigger and stronger, which can thoroughly solve the problem of soil pollution caused by plastic film, and protect the healthy and sustainable development of China's cotton industry.
