    Dominic's son, Pan Yade, grew up in an art circle since childhood. He is also an entrepreneur and an art collector. This time, Dominic also interviewed Pan Yade, who is responsible for the daily operation of the new gallery.     Twenty-first Century: when did you first collect it? What is the first collection?

    De Villepin: actually, it started at the age of seven. I lived in Venezuela, South America, and collected old watches and matchboxes representing Indians from the Orinoco River Valley in southern Venezuela. Maybe it's because I'm away from my native country to go to school. I've always been fascinated by the idea of collecting different gadgets. I need some small objects and paintings to accompany my companion and enrich my life.

    Pan Yade: after graduation, I started working in Hongkong. Zhao Wuji is an important figure that makes me think this way. He is an artist who connects the East and west art bridges. When I was in a foreign country, I realized that I was a Frenchman, and I wanted to uphold the values of French culture and other values. It took me exactly five years to buy one of his works, which is the beginning of my collection.

    Twenty-first Century: one or two artists and reasons you like best?

    De Villepin: all I want to talk about is my very close friend. One is German painter Anselm Kiefer, who explores historical memory in a new way of understanding, linking painting, poetry and thinkers to understand the world. The second is Spanish painter Miquel Barcel. He has been traveling all over the world, eager to find new art forms and colors for creation, and experimentation in primitive art, historical art and the most contemporary art form.

    Pan Yade: Zhao Wuji is undoubtedly the top of my favorite artists. His works, such as wines and wines, have no special taste.

    Twenty-first Century: father is a diplomat all the year round, and his son is exposed to various international environments from childhood. How does the background of internationalization affect your outlook on art?

    De Villepin: this influence is decisive. Traveling and settling in different countries can make people understand the great potential and creativity hidden in different parts of the world. Without inferior culture or superior culture, everyone has different views. Therefore, it is very interesting to try to understand different ways of looking at the world and observing things, and to see how they appear on the canvas. It helps us understand people and culture in different places.

    Pan Yade: my view is similar to that of my father. Because I was born abroad and grew up in different countries, I have a strong feeling that people are adapting to a certain social system and adapting to a certain set of standards. But we should regard diversity as an advantage rather than a disadvantage. The same is true of art. When we encounter things we do not understand, we should maintain an open attitude rather than refuse or marginalized them.

    Twenty-first Century: how do you view the current Chinese art market?

    De Villepin: China is a growing market. We can see how Chinese collectors play an increasingly important role nowadays. But the market still lacks organizational framework and rules. I believe there is still much work to be done. In addition, in the transformation of the art market, Asian collectors or Chinese collectors have to take the initiative to discover what they like and want to collect, rather than listen to what the West tells them to be good. I believe that the collectors from Asia and China have the ability to make judgments, which will profoundly change the pattern of the world art market and bring about a new look.

    Pan Yade: Yes, people will see that there are various structural defects in the Chinese market. But I have been in China for nearly ten years. I just like to have no framework here. I like China. There are still many things that need to be done and perfected. Although the western market has already built the market framework, there are still many areas to be discussed and reconstructed. We are accompanying and witnessing China's realization of the market that we want to build step by step, instead of applying the ideas and patterns inherent in the western market to this place.
