Peru Manufacturers Apply For Anti-Dumping Measures On Polyester Knitwear In China

Peru textile manufacturer Tecnologia Textil has applied to the Peru national competition defense and Intellectual Property Protection Agency (INDECOPI) to implement anti-dumping measures on 100% polyester knitted products from China.

T alleges that the price of Polyester Spun imported from China is not competitive with the Peru industry, which will affect the Peru market.

According to the preliminary analysis of INDECOPI, it is concluded that China's imported textile products not only cause unemployment in Peru's textile industry, but also at this stage can reasonably deduce that the suspected dumping has a causal relationship with the deterioration of Peru's market. INDECOPI will continue to investigate and analyze the case in order to decide whether to levy anti-dumping duties on China's 100% polyester knitted products to protect the textile industry in Peru.

According to the preliminary analysis conducted by INDECOPI during the period from 2016 to 2019, it was concluded that the co operative board card was able to conclude that the domestic polyester knitting industry in Peru was seriously damaged by imported textile products from China. Especially at present, the price of Chinese textile products is lower than that of Peru textile products, while the price of Chinese textile products is 35% cheaper than that of Peru textiles in 2016. This shows that the situation of low price sales has deteriorated year by year, and the sales volume of T has decreased by 47.6% during the 3 year survey period. Moreover, the products produced by T account for 90% of the total production in Peru, so the impact on T is equivalent to the impact on Peru's domestic industry. In addition, INDECOPI also said that the unemployment rate of the industry climbed to 17.5%, which may be caused by China's imports.
