Survey Of Import And Export Of Textiles And Garments In Japan In 2019 1~6
Total export value
The total value of textiles and clothing exports in 2019 1~6 amounted to US $3 billion 800 million, which was 1% lower than the same period in the previous year. The main export items were cloth products, with an export value of US $2 billion 350 million, accounting for 62% of the total export value, followed by yarn products, accounting for 14% of the total export value. The export value of garments and accessories was 250 million US dollars, accounting for 6% of the total export value. The export value of fiber, clothing and accessories and miscellaneous items increased by 1%, 12% and 4% respectively compared with the same period of the previous year, and the yarn failure rate was 9%; the export bulk fabric products were 1% worse (see Table 1).
Total import value
The total value of imports in 1~6 months in 2019 was $17 billion 150 million, which was 1% lower than the same period in the previous year. The main import items were garments and accessories, with an import value of US $12 billion 620 million, accounting for 74% of the total import value, followed by miscellaneous products, accounting for 13% of the total import value. Except for cloth and miscellaneous items, the import value of all products was worse than that of the previous year. Most of them were yarn products, accounting for 5%, while imported bulk garments and accessories were 2%.
