US Companies Are Fined For Selling Children'S Coats With Straps.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) today announced that Seattle Nordstrom has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $60 thousand.
It is known that in sales of children's jackets and sweaters with a strap on the hat and neck, the company did not report to CPSC in time according to federal law.
These products may result in children being killed by strangulation. These products were eventually recalled by the company.
The result of the process was temporarily accepted by the Committee.
CPSC said Nordstrom did not report to the government in time. The company sells jackets and sweaters with a hat and neck.
In November 2007 and December 2007, the company sold 2400 jackets and sweaters with drawstring in the US.
In February 2008 and March 2008, CPSC and Nordstrom announced the recall of jackets and sweaters with drawstring.

Federal law requires manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers to report to the government immediately (within 24 hours) when they hear that a product is overly dangerous, may cause serious injury or death to children, or violate any consumer product safety regulations, regulations, standards, or products prohibited by CPSC.
