German Employees Set Off A Strike Amazon Didn'T Take It Seriously
Since before Christmas last year, the Verdi labor union in Germany has started organizing employee strikes to put pressure on Amazon, so as to strive for better working conditions and wages for workers. Amazon calmed down the strike by offering Christmas bonuses to German employees. However, the strike activities of Verdi Labor Union and Amazon German employees did not end completely.
Although Germany does not have a minimum wage, it requires that wages be set according to industry. According to the report from the Internet information website "Daily Dot", Amazon believes that the employees in the company's logistics center should be classified as warehouse workers, which means that although they do not exceed the average level, their salary of $13 per hour is completely reasonable. However, Verdi Labor Union believes that employees of Amazon Logistics Center should be classified as postal employees and should receive higher salaries.
The dispute between Verdi Labor Union and Amazon has never stopped, even involving how many employees participated in the strike. Verdi Labor Union said that 500 employees of Amazon Leipzig Logistics Center with 1200 employees participated in the strike. However, Amazon said that the number of employees who actually participated in the strike was less than 340.
Amazon is calm about the strike organized by Verdi's labor union, and believes that it has very limited impact on the company's business. At present, Amazon has 9000 workers in nine logistics centers in Germany, plus 14000 temporary workers. The strike of hundreds of people organized by Verdi Labor Union has very limited impact on the company's business.
To complicate matters, part of Amazon Employees have shown their anti union stance to show that they are on the same front as their boss.
