Are Employees Human Resources?
The popular saying of < p > is that we are all "human resources".
It sounds that human resources seem to be an advanced concept, at least more advanced than manpower costs. In fact, the practice of human resources under the guidance of human resources is not only reducing the long-term performance of enterprises, but also undermining the human nature of our society.
< /p >
< p > although the word "human resources" was first appeared in 1919, in the present sense, the discussion of < a href= "http://www.91se91.com/news/index_h.asp" > human resources < /a > is the earliest and most brilliant exposition in the practice of management by Drucker, the managing master in 1954.
< /p >
< p > Drucker pointed out that the utilization of human resources should focus on its particularity, that is, different from other resources. On the other hand, it reminds us that human resources, apart from "resources", have a "human" aspect that can not be ignored.
< /p >
< p > the current popular practice of human resources has neglected the two principles put forward by Drucker.
The enterprise not only ignores the employee as a human side, but also treats it like other resources. It is also regarded as something owned by the enterprise, and the enterprise uses or abandons its own needs.
< /p >
< p > the word "human resources" has become the emperor's new clothes. Mintzberg, the managing guru, stepped forward to be the child who told the truth.
Mintzberg said, "a resource is a thing.
I am a person, not a human resource.
I think such words degrade people.
It's called a href= "http://www.91se91.com/pioneer/" > human capital < /a > or human assets are almost worse.
< /p >
There are two reasons for enterprises to be employees. < p >
One is a shallow reason: employees are significantly different from other costs, resources or capital projects, and only when employees are treated as human beings can enterprises achieve greater returns.
As Drucker said, "man has many unique qualities.
Unlike other resources, people have absolute autonomy in whether or not they want to work. "
People have at least one of the following unique qualities: people have emotions, knowledge, relationships, ideals and personality.
< /p >
The reason why P is deeper is that employees are human beings.
Enterprises are first of all a human group, followed by an economic entity.
Whether employees are regarded as cost, or resources or capital, are from an economic point of view.
These angles become the first angle of view of employees, because we see the deviation from the perspective of enterprises.
The deviations that have gradually become ingrained since twentieth Century should not be brought to the twenty-second Century.
< /p >
< p > Management Master Peter San Ji said: "if you go back far enough, a company is primarily and primarily regarded as a human community.
The word "company" comes from the French compaignier, which means sharing bread and the word root of the word "companion".
Therefore, the idea rooted in the basic idea of a company is: it is a human group, a group of people do something meaningful to them, and do something that they care about.
If the company is first and mainly a money making machine, the relationship between people and people is secondary, then they are only the "human resources" needed by the machine.
< /p >
< p > if employees are the cost, the verb should be frugal; when employees are resources, verbs should be used; when employees are capitals, the verb should be the maximization of returns.
What if a worker should be a human being? What should a verb be? < /p >
< p > we have done three large-scale surveys and asked the same question: what should a company's verb be to its employees? The result of the three time is almost the same. The top four verbs are encouragement, respect, cultivation and concern.
This is consistent with the characteristics of the person pointed out before: people have ideals, and therefore need motivation; people have personality, and therefore need respect; people have knowledge, so they need to be cultivated; people have emotions, so they need to be concerned.
Employees are not human resources, but people.
< /p >
< p > the way in which enterprises treat employees must shift from "a href=" http://www.91se91.com/news/index_p.asp > resources < /a > to "staff", which is the most urgent and important challenge facing management in twenty-first Century.
