But for Max De Biase, he has repeatedly stressed that he is a commercial designer, rather than a purely "designer". The biggest recognition of customers for your design is to buy products you design, and to see whether a designer is a good designer depends on whether he can design goods that are put on shelves and sell well. Self character is the need to obey the overall positioning of the brand in design. Q: before you design for SHE, do you know the position of Daphne in the Chinese market? A: I know, I have always known that "Daphne" has done very well in the Chinese market. The shoemaking industry in the world is not big. It is actually a very close family. Therefore, you must know more or less about any situation. But before I work for Daphne, I don't know how they work and what they are thinking. I only know they have been changing. Until 1 and a half years ago, I began to work for Daphne. Of course I know this brand. Many Americans began to buy things in China. People buy it in Shanghai, buy it in Beijing, and buy it at Daphne store. Q: how did you get your present job? Can you describe to me how you designed SHE shoes? Have you designed any other series of D18? What do you think is the difference between designing shoes for SHE and designing D18? A: my reason for entering this industry is that I have been engaged in art related work, and I am an artist myself. My family business is the shoemaking industry, and of course I have entered the industry. Now I design shoes for SHE, and I also do some D18 series design. The D18 series and the SHE version have different design concepts, showing a completely different appearance. The SHE series has its own characteristics, and the D18 series has its own characteristics. I hope these two series will be equally attractive to young consumers. The difference between the two series is obvious. SHE is a series tailored to the Pop Orchestra. This series is actually transformed from the feeling of R&B. In the end, this series is very vivid. Personally, I think they are very good working partners, and their shoes actually represent their personality. The SHE series is leaping and colorful. It contains many small details. The D18 series is more routine. Not so stage, not so rock and roll, so it's simpler and not as detailed as the SHE series. However, for those who do not want a pair of shoes that are very attractive, D18 is more in line with their needs. The SHE series is more ostentatious and has many details; D18 pays more attention to the use of materials. When I started designing, I started working with SHE - I started to see their VIDEO. I am Italian, I didn't know much about them before, but soon I was attracted by their performance on the stage. After that, I had several pleasant meetings with them. They were very young and very young, but they knew what they were going to do. They are full of energy. It is fun to work with them. It's also a pleasure for me to design shoes for young people. My son is 15 years old and SHE is bigger than him. It's very important for me to get in touch with young people like him every day. Only by understanding their generation's ideas can you start designing and make sure that they will buy it; otherwise, it will be a very difficult task. "They are very funny and very fond of laughing, which is different from the musicians in the United States on this point." For S.H.E, he immediately gave such comments. He said if he had been told 20 years ago that he would design shoes for a popular combination in China, he would have thought it would be Arabian Nights, but now he has done it. China's development in recent years is very fast. He feels that Shanghai's feeling is very similar to that of New York. The footsteps of fashion are almost synchronous. Q: what inspiration do you get from SHE? A: every time I meet them, I can get inspiration from them. When I was first assigned to do this job, I didn't really understand SHE. I am an Italian living in the United States. I really have no idea about Chinese Pop Orchestra. After I met them, I realized they were just like I imagined: they brought a lot of inspiration. They have a lot of ideas about what kind of shoes they want to wear. They help me a lot. In general, what music they listen to and what clothes they wear are reflected in the shoes I designed later. Yes, I can say with certainty that they have some very interesting ideas that allow me to design a very good series. They are a contagious combination, they are very good, very able to play and laugh often, which is different from some American musicians I know. I think they are very capable people. Their music VIDEO is very good. I feel very good about them. My son and SHE are not very old. Their young generation's ideas are very new. You have to adapt, understand their ideas, and use new things to stimulate their interest. Q: do you think SHE is a rock group, not a pop music combination? A: no, I think today, whether pop music, jazz or rock music, they are all merging, like many Hip Hop bands in the streets sing old songs and new songs together. I think SHE is a popular rock group. In fact, their fans and my customers are actually a group. I think we need to follow the principle that we can reach these customers. First, they buy some CD. I hope they can buy their shoes after buying CD. Q: what is the main factor in your design? A: that's a good question. Generally speaking, I think it's a trip. If you shut yourself in the house, you can't design well. Meeting and communicating with people from different parts of the world is the core of the design. In order to design, you must mobilize your interests and hobbies and always think about what is happening around you. If you travel a lot, you will know that people's lives in different parts of the world are the source of many design inspiration. For me, travel is the most important factor in my design, and traveling can give me new inspiration. You asked me how many countries I have visited, and I have been there many times. I think traveling is very important for most designers. "Design shoes are built on the basis of coordination and communication, and then describe the customers' inner dreams through individuality" Q: what do you think of the difference between art design and shoes design? A: there is a correlation between them. Sometimes it's positive, sometimes it's negative. As a painter, I can draw anything I want to paint; as a designer, I have a great sense of responsibility. For me, I want to be a designer who can design shoes that can be recognized by consumers, not a designer who can only draw several pictures. I think these two aspects are interrelated and divergent. An artist can draw anything he thinks, but for a commercial designer like me, I should first consider the brand, people invest in me and invest in my company. These two behaviors are the same and different. We listen to customers' opinions, but at the same time we need to be careful because customers can also erase some new ideas. This is a very subtle line. You have to listen to all kinds of opinions and integrate these ideas into a product. This product must be new and unique, otherwise the market will not be able to accommodate it. All people have their own new ideas, but they can not be too new. Sometimes too new is not good. It is half a step ahead of the market. Q:'s favorite designers and artists? A: for a shoe designer, there are two types. I like many shoemaker in Italy. In the art world, I also admire a lot of artists. They are excellent artists. Picasso, for example, Miller. I like to learn a little bit about this family in my design. My favorite French artist is Basquiat (Note: Basquette, late French graffiti artist). He passed away at the age of 25. Design, like pop music, is a culture that has great influence on the world. New things are needed. Q: do your customers like your design? A: I don't know. You never know. Maybe you can tell me. I design D18 and SHE series, and my customers care about change. Maybe today they will like my design. What about tomorrow? I prefer to use new products to make them feel excited. I hope that my design can have something new and innovative. Every day and day after tomorrow, I have some fresh elements to touch my customers. What does Q: think of the future design? A: feels great. Not only do I think so, but the whole company is permeated with such an atmosphere. It is not because we are very successful and sell very well that we have to repeat the same style, but we need to create new shoes under the same concept. If you sell a product well, you may be afraid to move on. I think we need to continue our past experience and come up with new designs. What's the difference between Q: S.H.E autumn winter and summer? A: the same concept, the same element, the same color, the same material. There are some small surprises. Of course, I can't reveal them now. The design of autumn and winter has more interesting things. In autumn and winter, people tend to be more conservative in shoes.
