    It is learned that in February, the retail sales volume of 100 major large retail enterprises in China showed a negative growth compared to the same period last year, -7.99%.

    According to the statistics of the China National Business Information Center, there are hundreds of key points in 2012 and February.

    Large retail enterprises

    Retail sales of foodstuffs fell by 10.3% over the same period last year.

    In 1~2 months, retail sales of foodstuffs increased by 13.8% over the same period last year, slowing 24.1 percentage points over the same period last year.


    In February 2012, the growth rate of retail sales of more than half of the categories of foodstuffs showed a significant downward trend compared with the same period last year.

    According to the statistics from the China National Business Information Center, the number of beverages in all kinds of foods decreased by 50.6% compared with the same period last year, down 78.2 percentage points from the same period last year. The tobacco and alcohol products decreased by 39.8% compared with the same period last year, lower than the 43.7 percentage points of the same period last year. The milk and dairy products decreased by 12.04%, lower than 32.3 percentage points of the same period last year, and dried fruits dropped 7.65% from the same period last year, down from 6.8 percentage points of the same period last year.

    In addition, the retail volume of liquid milk, beer, liquor, wine, fruit juice and carbonated drinks dropped by more than 20% compared to the same period last year, -53.7%, -45.2%, -42.2%, -35.52%, -31.2% and -22.6% respectively.


    Similar to the decline in food sales growth, according to the statistics of the China National Business Information Center, the number of retail sales of household appliances in hundreds of key large retail enterprises increased by -2.67% in the same period in February 2012. The growth rate dropped by 5.93 percentage points compared to the same month last year, a decrease of 2.87 percentage points compared with the same month last year.


    From the cumulative growth rate of 1~2 months, the retail sales of home appliances market in 100 key retail enterprises in the country increased by 1.11%, and the growth rate slowed by 16.68 percentage points compared with the same period of last year.

    From the perspective of major household appliances, the growth of most household appliances retail sales in 2012 and February slowed down compared with the same month last year. The retail sales volume of air conditioners dropped by 46.22 percentage points, the growth rate of refrigerator retail sales decreased by 27.02 percentage points, and the growth rates of other small appliances such as microwave ovens, electric heaters, food processors and induction cooker also dropped significantly. The best performance was vacuum cleaners, and the growth rate in February increased by 7.27 percentage points over the same period last year.


    From the cumulative growth rate of 1~2 months, the growth rate of most household appliances retail sales in 2012 showed a significant downward trend compared with the same period last year.

    In addition to the 3.50 percentage point increase in vacuum cleaners, the growth rate of microwave ovens dropped by 4.54 percentage points, while the growth rate of other household appliances retail sales increased by 15 percentage points lower than that of the same period last year.


    In 2012 1~2, the total retail sales volume of hundreds of large retail enterprises nationwide increased by nearly 5 years.


    According to the statistics from the China National Business Information Center for hundreds of major retail enterprises in China, the retail sales of clothing commodities decreased by 8.55% in the same period of February in 2012, due to the comparable factors such as the Spring Festival. In addition to the comparable factors such as the Spring Festival, the number of clothing retail sales of the major retail enterprises nationwide increased by 6.10% over the same period in 2012 1~2, representing a decrease of 22.13 percentage points over the same period in 2011, a new low in the past 5 years.


    Influenced by factors such as rising clothing prices, continuous rain in some areas, and late spring weather, affecting the sales of spring clothes, the retail sales of all types of clothing in the major retail enterprises nationwide dropped by 4.23% in the month of 2012 1~2.

    Among them, men's suits, leather clothing and women's wear were relatively good in retail sales, up 7.18%, 4.59% and 4.29% respectively, while the retail sales of knitted underwear, winter wear and Denim Wear fell by 14.50%, 9.11% and 8.22%, respectively.

    Most clothing has slowed down to some extent over the same period in 2011.


    In addition to factors such as Spring Festival and weather, according to the analysis of the China National Business Information Center, the main reason for the negative growth of retail sales in February is that the price increase in February has further slowed down, and CPI has increased by 1.7 percentage points over the same period last year.

    In addition, the low gold price has reduced the investment price of gold and silver jewelry, and the cooling of consumer demand has also affected sales growth.
