    Thematic Series Report Outdoor Products

    From 2000 to 2008, the average annual growth rate of China's outdoor products industry reached 48.9%, and the annual average growth rate of shipments reached 49.3%. In 2009, the total retail sales of outdoor products in China amounted to 4 billion 850 million yuan, an increase of 32.88% over 2008.


    By the end of 09, there were 3230 outdoor stores in China, including 1379 stores, an increase of 7.31% over the same period, and 1851 shopping malls, an increase of 14.2% over the same period last year. From the perspective of income structure, the proportion of shopping malls is 59.38%, the proportion of exclusive stores is 35.88%, and other channels such as online shopping account for 4.74%.

The total retail sales of outdoor products in the EU in 06 years is 5 billion 363 million euros, 11 times the current level in China.


    At present, the number of outdoor sports in China is about 6000-8000, accounting for 5.2% of the total population. The number of Americans taking part in outdoor activities was 138 million 400 thousand in 07 years, accounting for 46% of the total population.


    China's participation in outdoor sports is more than 20-60 years old, with a male to female ratio of 6:4. The common characteristics include high income, high academic qualifications, health care and love for life. With the continuous improvement of residents' income level and the increase of the proportion of highly educated people, the scale of outdoor sports groups will continue to expand.


    At present, the high-end outdoor functional fabric market is basically occupied by the products of Gore, DuPont and Polartec three companies in the United States, forming oligopoly, and the profit rate level is correspondingly higher. The fabric development capability of domestic enterprises is still weak, and there will be much room for improvement in the future.


    Under the current economic development stage and residents' income level, the expansion of the outdoor industry comes from the promotion of the participation of residents rather than the increase in depth. We believe that this trend will not change in the short term. Outdoor clothing and footwear will grow faster than equipment. Compared with professional outdoor brands, some popular and fashion related brands should grow faster.


    We believe that with the continuous improvement of income and education level in the future, the depth and breadth of national participation in outdoor sports will increase. With the increase of statutory holidays, the improvement of paid vacation system and the increasingly enrichment of tourism resources, the growth of 30%-40% industry will still be maintained as a whole in the next five years. Give industry "overweight" rating.


    Compared with manufacturers, brands and distributors will benefit more from the high growth of the industry. Taking into account the current stage of domestic outdoor industry, the growth of mass outdoor brands with wider audiences is better than that of professional outdoor brands. In addition, domestic enterprises in the functional fabric technology breakthrough is also worth looking forward to.
