Application Of Photoshop In Costume Design

 
As we all know, "PHOTOSHOP" is commonly used in image processing software. However, I think it is quite a good software to use it to dress design, especially for the color design of clothing, which is not inferior to professional software at all. Let's talk about how PHOTOSHOP is used in fashion design.

Step one: finish line tracing.

1) draw sketches on white paper first. Note that line drawing is not necessary. The way of line drawing can be varied. It can be either a thin line or a single line drawing, depending on the texture of the fabric. The reason why it is done on paper is that it is easier to paint and draw lines on paper. Direct painting in PHOTOSHOP can not achieve such a smooth result.

2) scan the outline to the computer. (note that the resolution of scanning is preferably 300 pixels / inch).

3) open the line drawing in PHOTOSHOP, copy the outline map with a magic wand tool to a new layer, fill the original layer with white, and copy the layer as the "Outline".

4) adjust the brightness and contrast of the "contour layer" (menu image adjustment brightness contrast). Finally, it appears that the background is white and the line is black. At this point, you can constantly use the tools of selection, movement and distortion to adjust and modify the outline and scale of the outline.

5) click on the white part of the outline layer with magic wand, then right click - select the similarity - select all white, select all white parts after removing, so that there is only the outline in the computer, and the other parts are transparent. In the back of the picture, we need to put the "outline layer" on the top and always put it on the top.

 

　　
The second step: the drawing of the human body.

1) build a new layer, name it "skin color", then use the spray tool to outline the complexion.

2) in this layer, when skin color is in place, some places can not be coloured and consciously keep some flying white. In this way, we can not only express the relationship between light and dark, but also make the picture move deeper.

3) when painting the relationship between the eyes and the dark, proper smearing tools can be used to make the eyes have a sense of hierarchy. The color of lip and eye shadow can be considered in accordance with the color of clothing.

4) the color of hair can be used more widely, such as dark red, dark blue, ripe brown, brown and so on. Do not use pure black or spray tools. Attention should be paid to the relationship between the sphere of the head and the bulky feeling of the hair.

5) in the process of human coloring, different parts can be placed in different layers for coloring. For example, before the hair is coloured, a new layer will be created, then the hair will be colored. This will help to modify the screen.

 

　　

The third step: clothing coloring method

There are many ways of coloring clothing. A simpler method is to set the color of clothing after the new layer is set up, and use the jet tools to directly render the colors in the picture according to the structural volume relationship between the human body and the clothing. The relationship between shading and dark can be handled by the shades of the color. This method is simple and convenient, but requires the painter to have a certain understanding of the human body structure.

Method two is in the new layer, choose the location of the coloring of the garment, eclosion 4 pixels (according to the size of the screen to adjust the pixels of the eclosion), then fill the color of the clothing you design, and use the fade and deepen tools to draw the relationship between the chest and the clothing.

Method three can also be coloured by the pattern seal tool in PHOTOSHOP, which is mainly used to draw cloth effect with pattern. In drawing, we should pay attention to the relationship between the density of the patterns in the picture so as to achieve better artistic effects. It is worth mentioning that filter tools in PHOTOSHOP and external filters can be used to design endless texture effects and apply them to design drawings to make your pictures more vivid and richer. Of course, there are many other ways to do the coloring of clothes.

Note: during the drawing process, we need to create a new layer for each part of the drawing. This will help us to modify the picture and design the coloring of the clothing. In PHOTOSHOP, we can change the brightness, purity and hue of any layer at any time. Using PHOTOSHOP to paint, we must make good use of the layer.
