ISO Formulating Stricter Toy Safety Regulations

    2010/11/4 10:54:00 48

    ISO Toy Regulations

There are millions of people around the world.

    Toys

The recall was due to harmful levels of lead and cadmium, asphyxiation, dangerous magnets and other safety hazards.

Two of the ISO 8124 toy safety standards

    New standard

Designed to reduce children because of non safety devices or

    Hazardous substance

    And the risk of injury.

"There is no doubt that ISO 8124 is the cornerstone of the global toy safety network," said --Arnie Rubin, chief executive of Funrise toy company and President of the International Toy Industry Council recently in the magazine "ISO Focus+". "Ensuring children's safety is the top priority in the industry."

The standard under the toy safety general title --ISO 8124 series is designed to reduce the potential danger of toys, regardless of whether the danger is generated in the expected mode of play (normal use), or in the unintended mode of play (foreseeable misuse).

The new addition to this series is ISO 8124-4:2010 "Toy Safety - the fourth part: swing, slide and similar toy for indoor and outdoor family entertainment".

The new standard provides requirements and testing methods for swings, slides and many other active toys, thus ensuring fun and safe playtime.

This standard applies only to indoor or outdoor toys that are used at home and for children under 14 years of age.

The new version of ISO 8124-3:2010 "Toy Safety - the third part: migration of specific elements" is based on accident data and risk analysis.

The purpose of the new improved standard is to expose children to potentially toxic elements by reducing the risk of children being able to swallow toys.

The new standard specifies risk minimization criteria such as arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury and other dangerous substances that may be found in toys.

ISO 8124-3:2010 replaced the earlier version 1997.

"With too many children's products that are not up to standard, panic over toys and product safety has spread."

Christian Wetterberg, chairman of the ISO Technical Committee, who is responsible for the development of these standards, said, "ISO 8124 is a critical safety standard, which reduces risk of injury, reduces the risk of exposure to danger and the severity of injury."

"We hope that all types of toy manufacturers in the world will understand the importance of ISO 8124.

The safety of our children depends on it! "

ISO/TC 181 - ISO toy safety 181st Technical Committee has been working hard to enhance toy safety. In 2009 and 2007, the first two parts of this series of standards were updated and improved: Toy Safety - Part I: Safety requirements for mechanical and physical properties, and toy safety second part: flame retardant.

According to the chairman, the ISO 8124 series is expected to expand 3 new parts soon, including:

Total concentration of specific elements in L toy materials

Limit of plasticizer for o-phenyl two formic acid in L plastic material

    L special sign
