Greece'S Textile Industry Is Recovering Rapidly.

The Greek Textile Industry Association (SEVK) confirmed that

The Greek Textile Industry Association said at a recent meeting that all sector indices increased over the previous year.

In 2009, the output of textile products dropped by 20% compared with 2008.

This year, a year-on-year growth of 8.3%.

Similarly, the volume of trade has risen this year, up 7.1% so far, down 18% last year.

This growth is mainly attributable to the European Union.

Orders for this year increased by 10%, and 17% in 2009.

In addition, exports in the same period increased by 10-12%.

According to a survey conducted by the Greek fashion industry association on the financial reports of 200 garment manufacturers in Greece, Greek clothing manufacturers have been tested by the textile market in 2005.

In the extremely difficult business situation, the total turnover of the 200 garment manufacturers in 2005 was flat, reaching 1 billion 570 million euros, while the average gross profit in 2005 increased by 3.8% over 2004.

This shows that the clothing industry in Greece can withstand market pressure and most enterprises have adapted to the new competitive environment.

However, the survey also showed that the average pre tax profits of the 200 enterprises in 2005 were 22.9% lower than that in 2004, and the decline was mainly in the small and medium-sized enterprises. Compared with that, the pre tax profits of large enterprises increased by 1.5%.

The survey shows that companies that produce famous brands and have their own sales network have better prospects for development.
