Two people, 2010 autumn and winter series successfully displayed the dark and abstract emotions.

Duo Laiinen and his sister Anna have created a very good tailoring and artistic connotation of men's clothing.

    2010 autumn and winter

Laiinen released exquisite knitted series and bicycles' jackets and other exquisite works. It looks like King Kong has taken off his coat.

Duo Laiinen brothers and sisters live in a small town near Finland on the Russian border. Their mother has cultivated their unusual passion for art and fashion. Duo Laiinen came to London with such enthusiasm, where she studied at the central Saint Martin Institute.

Anna studied art and designed many prints for Laiinen.

After their takeoff of the Helsinki brand, they were nominated by Dreyer in the 2006 film festival. Despite their international success, they maintained their views on their outsider mentality.

Here, they discuss design to avoid recession and fashion groups.

The following is an interview record of Dazed Digital and Duo Laiinen:

Dazed Digital: what inspired your 2010 autumn and winter series?

Duo Laiinen: I stumbled across a book with pictures of Finland juvenile delinquents in nineteenth Century. It's unbelievable.

There were no uniforms at that time, so they wore their own clothes during the arrest.

When these clothes began to rot, they used different types of clothing to stack up, even women's clothes.

These prisoners came from all walks of life. Beggars, murderers and poor aristocrats lived in a dungeon.

This is the starting point of strange combination.

Dazed Digital: can you tell me about fabric and why you choose them?

Duo Laiinen: we are very fastidious about fabric now, and tend to surpass the budget when choosing them.

We used a lot of wool from Italy.

They wear them out beautifully and wash them all the time.

I like that our clothes do not look very distressed in a LIVE-IN, which is why there are many clothes that are dyed or washed.

In print, we work with photographer Chris Vidal in design.

Dazed Digital: do you use the latest technology in this design?

Duo Laiinen: in every autumn and winter design, we almost used Shillin. This time we cut the overcoat and the bicycle coat. Literally, we cut into two pieces. The front is wool and leather, and the whole back is like a lamb. When you put on the outer sleeve, it is really surrounded by a gorilla.

Dazed Digital: what kind of designer do you admire in the most student years?

Duo Laiinen: I'm afraid that my past and present are very terrible predictions. I have a crush on Helmut Ron and people who like Japan and also like Belgium.

In my research, there was a great moment when we collaborated with designers in Antwerp in 90s, they also molded my taste and the overall view of fashion. But I also liked designers like Jeffrey Bean and Bill. I think they are real heroes.

Dazed Digital: Anna, how do you combine art knowledge with fashion?

Anan Laiinen: after I graduated from high school, I chose art very naturally. I thought I was good at drawing.

When I was interested in fashion in the process of research, I passed the pition smoothly.

It's very important for me to create things with both hands. That's why so many knitted garments are knitted by hand. After knitting, we explore new technologies and structures.

It is actually similar to an art work.

Because you don't know what your use is, and you may end up being very miserable and depressed.

Dazed Digital: your style is very Scandinavian, dark and melancholy.

Anan Laiinen: for us, the main color used is very natural, because we do not want to see each other at any time like neon lights.

This series is quite small, and all of them must maintain their cohesion in limited hue.

Our stores and customers are not very keen on bright colors. This is one reason why we keep the dark tones.

Many clothing designs in Finland still use the colorful 1960s prints as elements, so I think this design wants to reverse the tradition.

Dazed Digital: Why did you decide to focus on 2009, and purely menswear?

Anan Laiinen: in the series design, it has always been very neutral. Many girls also like to wear men's clothing.

From the side of men, we can concentrate on expanding the scope of our products and have a positive impact on sales.

This is also a good opportunity to re publish the collection of women's clothing in recent years, but also because of this demand, but now we are concentrating on the development of men's clothing.

Dazed Digital: how many of your companies are affected by the recession?

Duo Laiinen: Fortunately, not many. Designers tend to be too conservative during the recession, but you really need to push your product to interest your customers, especially as a young designer selling expensive products.

Our customers all hope that we can achieve their own style, and we are very grateful to them for their trust and loyalty.

Dazed Digital: there is an outsider's mentality in your career. Have you changed your mind and flourished?

Duo Laiinen: I think Anna and I are a bit like abandoned children.

We hate being put into boxes, and many thriving tribes or clicks are found in the fashion world.

Of course, we have been playing games for more or less time, but I think the most important thing is to see the bigger picture and the fashion of external life.
