GUCCI GUCCI Change Packaging To Open Low Carbon Mobilization

In June 5, 2010, Gucci announced that the brand is implementing the global environmental protection plan, which aims to mitigate the environmental damage caused by brand.

The key project of the new plan is the introduction of new packaging material design.

The paper was approved by Forest Management Committee (FSC Certified) and recycled 100% times.

The brand's 284 stores will adopt the new design in June 2010.

The concept of brand new packaging not only represents the brand's responsibility for environmental protection, but also coordinates with Gucci's 90th anniversary in 2011, highlighting the brand's long history.

Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini's new packaging design is based on the idea of integrating modern society with luxury and integrating social responsibility, so that the dual meaning of the project can be reflected.

Frida Giannini said: "this plan proves that even if we use environmental protection materials, we will never drag the design away.

The brand new packaging is beautifully designed, successfully displaying the combination of Gucci value and brand tradition. This tradition has been inherited since Guccio Gucci founded its brand in Florence 90 years ago.

I am convinced that reducing environmental damage is our common responsibility for future generations.

The new shopping bags and gift boxes are made of elegant reddish brown recycled paper and printed with concave GG marks on the top.

This logo was created in 1960s with the effect of Guccissima classic leather.

The surface of the package shines with light, highlights the luxury status of the brand, and brings out the warm tone of Frida Giannini's Gucci concept store.

The gold Gucci logo is set up with a special brown packaging. The Firenze 1921 marks the birthplace of the brand, the tradition of "Made in Italy" and its nearly 90 years history.

The gucci.com website has also been added to the side of shopping bags, which confirms the relationship between Gucci online store and franchised store network.

The inside of the shopping bag is printed with This shopping bag is FSC certified and made of100% recyclable material (the shopping bag has been certified by the forest management committee and manufactured with 100% recycled materials).

The forest management board (FSC) certifying that the paper used for each shopping bag and gift box comes from the forest under control, and each production process is in conformity with the standards of the forest management board.

Gucci is recognized by FSC as a supplier of environmental protection in the production of packaging materials and its suppliers.

Gucci promises that by the end of 2010, recycled forest products approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) will only be used to ensure that the paper used is not from endangered forests, such as tropical rain forests in Indonesia.

The rainforest is one of the most threatened forests in the world, which is affected by excessive deforestation and climate change.

In product packaging, the brand will continue to explore more alternative fiber materials for packaging, such as grain, bamboo and cotton made of bio - degradable shopping bags.

Gucci is committed to reducing the impact of the operation on the environment. In order to match the plan, Gucci adjusts the packaging measures of the brand so as to reduce the waste of resources.

When the goods are shipped from the factory, they will specially pack a pair of shoes with a velvet cloth, and replace the two wrapping bags before. The gift boxes will only be provided to the required customers.

Gucci will replace the original version with the new environmentally-friendly human model (mannequin). The new humanoid model is designed by Frida Giannini, made of anti-seismic polystyrene (a durable and 100% recycled raw material) and painted with water-based coatings, all made in Italy.

Gucci Patrizio di Marco, chairman and chief executive officer, said: "to evaluate the world's top brands in the near future, the evaluation criteria are not only about the quality and service attitude, but also the interaction between brands and the society and environment.

In 2004, all logistics providers of Gucci voluntarily adopted the corporate social responsibility standard (SA 8000) certification process, which has become the pioneer of environmental protection in the industry.

In the same year, Gucci established cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Over the past six years, the brand has raised over $8 million, supporting poor children and women in sub Saharan Africa.

These cooperation plans are part of our value system, just as we believe in the importance of protecting the environment.

    "

    Brand other sustainable development actions:

    - printed products will be replaced by E-Card and E- Catalogue gradually. Customers only need to select "go green" when registering.

    - to implement the pport optimization plan, the four phase of the European Union truck will be replaced by the five phase of the EU freight car, aiming to reduce the volume of 30% freight cars.

    - Implementing the energy saving plan for franchised stores, including reducing non camp lighting, lighting sensors and replacing 35 watts energy-saving lamps;

    - try LED lights and adjust artificial stone instead of marble.

    - replacing hard wood with synthetic boards in furniture manufacturing.

Through the above actions, Gucci expects to reach the end of 2010:

    - reduce 35 tons of plastic waste.

    - reduce the consumption of paper to 1400 tons (optimize the consumption of paper by using new packaging materials, reusing recycled bags instead of cartons and printing catalogues and promotional materials).

    - reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10000 tons;

    - reduce gasoline consumption by 4 million liters.

Lafcadio Cortesi, director of publicity at RAN, commented: "we appreciate Gucci's support for environmental protection with practical actions.

The brand reduces paper consumption and reduces logging, and only products that are accredited by the forest management board. It not only protects forests in Indonesia and other parts of the world, but also sets a good example for other brands in the luxury industry.

    "

In 2004, Gucci launched the Corporate Social Responsibilty (SA8000) certification process spontaneously. At present, its leather goods, footwear, garments, silk and jewelry supply chain have been certified.

Certification confirms the brand's business ethics, respect for human rights, environment, workers' health and safety, and rights and equal opportunities.

More than 400 Gucci suppliers and sub suppliers belonging to different product lines have received training on social responsibility.

More than 1000 suppliers and sub suppliers have passed the examination to confirm that their operations are up to the standards set by the brand.

Following the successful SA8000 certification, the brand has recently moved to the next city, through preliminary environmental audits, and is expected to get ISO 14001 certification by the end of 2010.
