Hangzhou Held The "2010 Second China Clothing E-Commerce Summit"
"The 2010 Second China clothing e-commerce summit" was held in Hangzhou in May 27th. The research data released at the meeting showed that apparel online retail grew 97% in 2009, and the market scale increased from 15 billion in 2007 to 64 billion in 2009. The size of the online garment retail market in 2010 is expected to grow 80% over 2009, reaching a market scale of 115 billion yuan.
The summit was hosted by the Hangzhou Municipal People's government, and jointly hosted by Hangzhou information office and Beijing Zheng Wang Consulting Co., Ltd. According to the 2010 Online Shopping survey report, most brand clothing companies opened flagship stores in Taobao in the year of 2009, and recruited Taobao clothing sellers in the Taobao market to establish online distribution channels. Taobao accounted for 86.3% of the total market share of apparel industry in 2009, an increase of 2.6 percentage points compared with the previous year.
On the one hand, the rapid growth of the online retail market has attracted the participation of many traditional garment enterprises. On the other hand, consumers' enthusiasm for online shopping for clothing has also been constantly stimulated. In the latest report of the 2009-2010 China online shopping hot city report published by a website, clothing category has become the most popular commodity, especially women's clothing. It has no suspense to become the first consumer of online shopping in the ten cities. Between May 1, 2009 and May 1, 2010, women's clothing accounted for 12.17% of the total consumption volume of online shopping in ten major cities. Equivalent to 10 thousand yuan of online shopping turnover, 1217 yuan are spent on women's clothing.
