The United States Sets Up A Clothing And Footwear Association In Haiti
In order to support and provide long-term assistance to the Haitian people, the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) announced that it would set up a Haiti American Apparel and Footwear Association Recovery and Reconstruction Team (HARRT), which would provide insight into the key clothing, footwear and textile industries as a relief measure for the sustainable operation and reconstruction of Haiti hit by the earthquake.
Kevin, President and CEO of the American Apparel and Footwear Association Burke said: "Since we support the continued relief work in Haiti, it is very important for the clothing and footwear industry to start rebuilding. Because clothing production is one of the most outstanding industrial sectors in Haiti, this sector will play a vital role in the reconstruction of Haiti. I am pleased with the generosity of many member units of the American clothing and footwear industry and their actions as leaders in the task force. Haiti will soon move towards full recovery. "
Rick, co chairman of HARRT Standing Committee Haifenbain said, "When we are optimistic about Haiti's recovery, we must be diligent and attentive. The clothing industry of the United States has established a long-term partnership with Haiti and is ready to become the cornerstone of Haiti's reconstruction."
Jerry, Vice President of American Hanbai Company Cook said: "Before the earthquake, the clothing and textile industry in Haiti experienced incredible growth for several years. We must do everything we can to help the reconstruction of the clothing industry in Haiti, which will make a positive contribution to the Haitian economy."
HARRT's mission is to ensure that the clothing and footwear industry plays a responsible and active role in Haiti's overall recovery. In the coming weeks, HARRT will continue to look for clothing and footwear manufacturers who are active in Haiti to learn more about their special and progress needs. Through its core objectives, HARRT will assist the clothing and footwear industry in Haiti in terms of infrastructure issues, project capacity levels, worker training, and responsible production and procurement modes.
