    Low carbon has become one of the hottest words nowadays. In both fashion and other industries, low carbon and environmental protection has become the voice of the world.

    Especially after the United Nations Conference on climate change in Copenhagen, the Chinese government announced that by 2020, the carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP will be 40% to 45% lower than that in 2005, and will be included as a binding index in the national economic and social development plan.


    However, in the past few years, low carbon is only a hollow slogan, and the response of enterprises is often a mere formality.

    But now, with the improvement of consumers' environmental awareness and the guidance of national policies and regulations, enterprises have to take seriously the low-carbon economy.

    Low carbon is no longer just a sales promotion on the surface. It is becoming a profound revolution in the consumer terminal.


    Low carbon is no longer just a slogan, it has penetrated into every chain of fashion industry, from upstream raw material suppliers to intermediate production enterprises, and downstream products processing enterprises.

    Low carbon is changing from illusory concept to the real behavior of enterprises and individuals. Many well-known brands in the clothing industry have quietly moved to start developing new products, adjusting marketing direction, changing the way of operation, and integrating low carbon into the entire corporate culture.


    Among them, Nike has invested tens of millions of dollars in response to low carbon environmental shoes products, perfected the process of producing no SF6 air cushion; Lining, in cooperation with the famous Japanese fiber manufacturer, has launched a series of environmental protection clothing series with environmentally friendly ECOCIRCLE fabrics, which has aroused people's attention to low carbon clothing; Levi 's recycling old jeans, advocating low carbon simple lifestyle; building an environmental factory, introducing ecological textile products, and eliminating harmful textile ingredients to the human body and the environment...


    However, low carbon and emission reduction are easier said than done.

    So, what is the real sense of low-carbon action?

    Low carbon, can protect the global environment and human health at the same time, let enterprises benefit from it?


    Li Kailuo, director of economic research in China's famous fashion industry and director of the International Institute of industrial economics, said that enterprises should not take low carbon as a fashion concept to hype, but actually do it well.

    For textile and garment industry, to achieve low carbon, we should start with the production of raw materials and products. The government should play a leading role, accelerate the formulation of low-carbon standards, vigorously promote the R & D and application of low-carbon technologies, clarify the main bodies and stakeholders of different links, and form effective incentive mechanisms as soon as possible, so as to provide reliable system guarantee for low carbon.

    Through mandatory and non mandatory access standards, the proportion of green low-carbon products will be increased.


    Secondly, we should advocate green marketing in product sales, low carbon retail, and encourage retail enterprises to create green supply chain, but we should prevent fake green marketing with "green" and "low carbon" as gimmicks, as well as the behavior of pferring low carbon costs.

    At the same time, to create a low carbon sales environment, in the promotion of low carbon sales products (environmental shopping bags, packaging bags, etc.) to work hard to ensure the low carbon level of commercial links.


    To truly touch the overall low-carbon action of garment enterprises, it is not enough to rely solely on rewards and punishing measures. It is not enough to rely on corporate social responsibility. It is also necessary for enterprises to understand a reason: when preventing global warming from becoming a global consensus and common responsibilities of mankind, who can take the lead in focusing on R & D in low-carbon economy and low carbon technology, who will gain greater benefits from it.

    Low carbon and environmental protection are really implemented, not just slogans.
