Quanzhou Effectively Promotes Tannery Pollution Control

Reporters recently learned that since the implementation of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act in September 2003, our city has continuously promoted pollution prevention and adjustment and upgrading of the industrial structure with the EIA. Quanzhou has closed, eliminated and pferred to environmental protection enterprises.

It is reported that in the past few years, our city has taken energy conservation and emission reduction as the starting point to promote the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure, and resolutely closed down and eliminated the technology and equipment and products that are not in line with the national industrial policies and backward technologies.

The water and gas comprehensive control in the ceramic industry and pollution control in such industries as paper making, cement, printing and dyeing, thermal power and leather making have also been promoted.

At present, the daily water consumption has reached 70 thousand tons. In Nanan and Yongchun County, the paper industry has carried out advanced treatment of waste water in the paper industry, and a total of 13 paper-making enterprises have implemented the wastewater reuse project.
