On the eve of the new cotton year, we carefully inventory and summarize the cotton management situation in the previous year, objectively analyze and predict the trend of the market in the later stage, accumulate wisdom and discuss countermeasures for the coming new challenges.

Now, on behalf of Hubei Cotton Association, I would like to talk about this year's cotton situation and report to you all about the work done by the association.

First, review the cotton situation in the previous year.

In 07/08, cotton planting area in Hubei province was 6 million 270 thousand mu, an increase of 220 thousand mu over the previous year, and output of 452 thousand and 900 tons, which was basically the same as that of last year. The average yield of lint cotton was 72 kg, a decrease of 2 kg compared with that of last year. The average cotton purchase price increased a lot over the previous year, so the average cotton planting income increased slightly, and the average sales income of Mu cotton was 1446.23 yuan, an increase of 44.33 yuan over the previous year, an increase of 3.16%.

In the 07 year, cotton sales prices in our province basically converged with the whole country. The price fluctuation of the whole year was almost a straight line, 13600-13800 yuan / ton a year ago, which remained the same after the end of the year, until the end of the year, it did not go out of the downward channel, and the current selling price was only 13500 yuan / ton, which is close to the acquisition.

In the overall market situation of depression, most cotton enterprises in our province actively comply with market demand, and have achieved good business results.

But a small number of enterprises also have hoarding cotton. According to the statistics of the Agricultural Development Bank, as of the end of July, there were about 100 thousand tons of cotton in the province, plus the loan interest and warehousing costs acquired in September last year, and the price per ton must reach 14 thousand yuan to guarantee the capital. Some enterprises were forced to sell the loans under the pressure of the repayment of loans and the acquisition of new cotton.

The serious situation of cotton purchase and sale in our province is mainly due to the increase in profits and losses in textile enterprises, the drop in output growth and the decrease in cotton consumption.

In the 1-5 month of this year, the profit of our province's profitable textile enterprises increased by 31%, but the deficit of the loss making enterprises doubled, from 168 million 760 thousand yuan to 338 million 900 thousand yuan.

In the first half of this year, our province produced 610 thousand and 600 tons of yarn, an increase of 22.6% over the same period last year, an increase of 101.1% over the same period last year, an increase of 78.5%.

From the above data, it is not difficult to read the situation of our province's textile industry.

Next, introduce the new cotton operation in Hubei province.

The cotton planting area of our province has increased by about 6 million 500 thousand mu this year, an increase of 230 thousand mu over the previous year.

Affected by climate, pests and diseases, cotton growth is not as good as last year.

If the climate is normal, the total output is expected to be about 450 thousand tons.

In early August, cotton growers in some provinces of our province began picking cotton. Yichang, Huanggang, Xiangfan and other places had processed factories to buy new cotton.

It is understood that the new cotton price listed is 2.6-2.8 yuan / Jin, four level, but many brokers offer only 2.4 yuan / Jin, which is far from the expectations of cotton farmers.

According to the preliminary investigation of Cotton Association of Zhejiang Province, there are some differences in the prediction of new cotton prices between different market players in different interests and perspectives.

The cost of cotton planting increased by about 200 yuan per mu compared with the previous year. Cotton farmers' expectations increased slightly over the previous year and concentrated at 3.2 yuan / Jin. Most processing plants predicted that the seed cotton price should be 2.6-2.8 yuan / Jin, the reason is that the current sales price is still low, and the cotton lint and cottonseed prices have dropped substantially. If the new cotton purchase cost is too high, the business risk will increase.

Textile mills want prices to remain at a reasonable level, stable operation, and continue to take low inventory and follow the strategy.

After a comprehensive analysis, we believe that cotton prices will not be too high this year, at least in the short term, but higher than the previous year. Although the cost of cotton growing is increasing, the price is determined by the market.

In the current challenges and challenges, the development of cotton industry in our province has been highly valued by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government. A series of new measures to speed up the development of cotton industry in Hubei province have been introduced. The cotton association of Hubei province has played a very important role in implementing the new measures as a member of the inter provincial joint conference of cotton industrialization in Jiangsu Province.

First, promote the development of cotton professional cooperatives in the province.

The association vigorously publicized the law on Farmers' professional cooperatives, and encouraged and helped cotton leading enterprises and cotton brokers to create cotton professional cooperatives.

Now, there are 16 cotton professional cooperatives in the province, which have completed the registration of industrial and commercial businesses, and become the real type of professional farmers cooperatives.

In March, he led the establishment of the "Hubei Yinfeng joint cotton professional cooperative". The establishment of the associated society changed the pattern of the cotton professional cooperative's sub regional and single operation, and laid a solid foundation for the province's integration of the advantages of the cotton industry and the combined effect of the industrial clusters.

The newly established Yinfeng joint cotton professional cooperative has launched a series of activities of strengthening agriculture and benefiting farmers.

The grass-roots cooperative organization organized a multi phase cotton planting training course to help farmers solve the problem of pest control.
