Technology In Life: After A Few YearsWear One In Winter.

    Technology

The development of science and technology is reflected in all aspects of life, and clothes we usually wear are no exception.

Maybe in a few years, the clothes we wear will change like this: raw materials no longer use petroleum products, and winter clothes do not need to wear thick down garments. Underwear can automatically prevent bacterial invasion.

These changes are not written on paper. Recently, Mei Ziqiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, told reporters about these changes.

Renewable resources as raw materials for clothing

Textile materials have always been mainly made of synthetic fibers and require large amounts of oil resources.

But petroleum resources are non renewable resources, and synthetic fibers will pollute in the course of production and processing, and they will not be degraded after use.

Therefore, scientists have been looking for natural renewable materials to make up for these deficiencies.

Academician Mei, who has been engaged in textile technology for decades, briefed reporters that at present, there are several renewable resources that can be used to replace oil in the world.

One is non-toxic solvent based cellulose fiber, which uses wood as raw material.

This fiber has many advantages. First of all, it is harmless to the human body in the production process, and it can be degraded and recyclable. Secondly, wood resources are renewable; in addition, it is better than cotton in terms of elasticity and shrinkage.

However, this kind of fiber also has some shortcomings, for example, the processing technology is complex. If it is not well dissolved, it will not be able to spin and cause pollution.

At present, the United Kingdom, Japan, Austria and other countries are developing this kind of fiber, and our country is seeking cooperation with these countries.

It is expected that in a few years this fiber will be produced in large quantities.

The other is polylactic acid fiber.

According to Mei academician, this kind of fiber is a vegetable protein which can be extracted from many plants.

The international practice is to extract lactic acid from corn stalks and waste from making wine and sugar, then saccharification, and then form a spinning solution after polymerization.

But the production of this kind of fiber is not large at present.

Warmth keeps people cold in winter.

Academician Mei Ziqiang said that the research on thermal clothing has been in China for 10 years.

According to him, some of the thermal underwear sold on the market now has far infrared technology.

That is to say, a trace element is added to the fiber, so that it can absorb the infrared rays emitted by the human body and the outside, and preserve them, and play a role of keeping warm.

In a few years, people may wear warmer and better clothes, and a thin coat will be enough in cold winter.

The reporter saw such clothes in the office of Mei academician.

From the outside, it is no different from ordinary clothes. If you turn it over, you will see a thin, very thin film.

Mei academician explained to reporters that this layer of film can withstand cold weather. It is a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film. There are about 9 billion micropores per square metre. These micropores are 700 times larger than the water molecules. Therefore, water vapor can go out, but the wind can not pass through, so it has the effect of preventing wind and moisture.

The garments made of this material are especially suitable for people working and living in high cold areas, which can be used instead of heavy fur coats.

It is made into medical protective clothing, and medical personnel wear it without worrying about whether the virus will come in or worry about the sweat.

At present, China, Japan and other countries have this technology, but the price of this kind of clothing is expensive, it is estimated that in a few years will be mass production, then the price will also decline, easy to be accepted by the majority of consumers.

According to reports, a company in the United States recently developed a sweating fabric, which not only keeps warm, but also its unique micro grooves help to draw sweat beads on the skin. Clothes are easy to dry and are especially suitable for athletes.

Chitin fiber has many bactericidal and health functions.

"Another kind of fiber that has bactericidal and health care function is extracted from crab shells," academician Mei said. The substance extracted from Crustacea has unsaturated cationic groups in its molecular structure. Therefore, it has strong adsorption effect on all kinds of harmful substances with negative charge. It can remove "garbage" in the human body and repair and activate damaged cells. So this fiber is called "health care fiber".

Chitin is widely distributed in the shells of insects and aquatic crustaceans. Crab shells and shrimp shells can be used as raw materials and renewable resources.

The biodegradability of this fiber is widely used in the medical field.

Chitin can be made into medical suture. After surgery, it does not need suture removal. It absorbs itself and grows with human tissue.

It can also be used as a dressing to treat burned skin, put it on the skin, and it will grow with the skin. If the effect is good, it will leave no scar.

In addition, if a bone is injured, it can replace metal plates, repair bones, and grow together with human bones.

Because this fiber has antibacterial, analgesic, moisture absorption, itching and other functions, it can also be used for civilian purposes, making diapers, baby clothes, underwear for men and women, sanitary napkins, sick clothes, surgical robes, bedding and other antibacterial and deodorant textiles.

This fiber has been produced in large quantities in China, but it is mainly exported to the Japanese market because of its high price.

There are also many developing multifunctional fibers, such as stainless steel fiber and cotton blended, with good electrical conductivity and can be made into protective clothing specially used for radiation protection. The clothes made of nano materials can be waterproof and oil proof.
