       From May 19 to 20, 2023, the final of the 4th National Undergraduate Green Dyeing and Finishing Science and Technology Innovation Competition hosted by China Textile and Garment Education Association, supported by the Ministry of Education's Teaching Steering Committee for Light Industry Majors in Colleges and Universities, and organized by Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology was held in Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology, At the same time, the competition held the fourth meeting of Light Chemical Engineering (Textile Chemistry and Dyeing and Finishing Engineering) of the Teaching Steering Committee of Light Industry Specialities in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education.
       With the theme of "energy conservation and emission reduction, innovative design", this competition received 362 entries from 34 universities, including 220 undergraduate projects and 140 graduate projects. The number and quality of entries reached a new high, which shows the influence of this competition. The competition is divided into three parts: the school selection, expert review and final defense. Through the school selection and expert preliminary evaluation, 181 projects were selected to win the third prize and above, of which 92 were finalists. After the final defense and on-site scoring by the judges, 12 grand prizes, 28 first prizes and 52 second prizes were finally awarded. The publicity period of the final results list is ten days.
       This competition provides a rare exchange and learning platform for teachers and students in the field of textile chemistry and dyeing and finishing engineering in colleges and universities across the country. Students carry out green dyeing and finishing technology competition around the theme of the competition "energy conservation, emission reduction, innovative design", which is of great help to focus on industry development, temper the spirit of engineers, and improve engineering practice ability; All participating colleges and universities exchange professional education and teaching experience, pass on the concept of advanced talent training, and jointly contribute to the high-quality development of the textile and clothing industry in the future through professional construction.

The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly pointed out that it is necessary to establish and improve a green and low-carbon circular development economic system, take pollution reduction and carbon reduction as the overall starting point for promoting the overall green transformation of economic and social development, and accelerate the optimization and adjustment of industrial structure. "Textile Chemistry and Dyeing and Finishing Project" is a key link in the textile and clothing industry chain to improve product quality, enrich product functions, promote green development, show responsibility orientation, realize aesthetic value, and create market value. It is a concentrated embodiment of the textile industry's "technology, green, fashion" industry positioning. In recent years, the printing and dyeing industry has made continuous innovations and breakthroughs in advanced technology and equipment, pollutant treatment and comprehensive utilization of resources, ecological and environmental chemicals, digitalization and informatization, and a large number of advanced and applicable technologies for energy conservation and emission reduction have been promoted and applied with obvious effects, fully demonstrating the value mission and era responsibility of the industry.
       At the same time, the competition held the fourth meeting of Light Chemical Engineering (Textile Chemistry and Dyeing and Finishing Engineering) of the Teaching Steering Committee of Light Industry Specialities in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education. More than 100 academic leaders, teachers and students' representatives, and heads of industry associations from 34 colleges and universities across the country participated in the meeting. The conference included a number of topics such as the Rong · Chuang academic salon with the theme of "textile color and function" and the seminar on the construction of light chemical engineering specialty under the background of "double first-class", aiming to deepen the discipline construction of textile chemistry and dyeing and finishing engineering, and provide talent support for the high-quality development of textile printing and dyeing industry.
       At the meeting, experts such as Secretary General of the Light Industry Teaching Guidance Committee, Professor He Youjie of Sichuan University, Professor Ge Fengyan of Donghua University, Professor Li Zheng of Tianjin University of Technology, Professor Hu Yi of Zhejiang University of Technology, Professor Wang Ping of Jiangnan University, Professor Yan Chao of Wuhan Textile University and the person in charge of the "national first-class specialty construction site" made comments on the progress of professional engineering certification, teaching reform experience Under the background of "double first-class", the undergraduate specialty construction of light chemical engineering and other work were reported on theme sharing, and the participants held a warm discussion.
       It was decided at the meeting that the Fifth Conference of Light Chemical Engineering (Textile Chemistry and Dyeing and Finishing Engineering) and the Fifth National Undergraduate Green Dyeing and Finishing Science and Technology Innovation Competition of the Ministry of Education Light Industry Teaching Steering Committee would be hosted by Qingdao University in 2024.
