    Cotton Verticillium Wilt (Verticillium wilt) is the "first major disease" of cotton. It can be transmitted by many media, such as cottonseed, diseased plant residues, soil, fertilizer and water, agricultural tools, etc. In the production, the control effect of conventional crop rotation and chemical agents is not obvious.

    In order to ensure the sustainable and healthy development of the cotton industry, in recent years, Ma Ping, a scientist in the prevention and control of Fusarium Wilt in the national cotton industry technology system and a researcher in the Plant Protection Research Institute of Hebei Academy of agricultural and Forestry Sciences, led a team to carry out research on the occurrence regularity of Cotton Verticillium Wilt and green and efficient control technology. Instead of focusing only on the single cotton industry and disease prevention and control, they learned from the experience of foreign countries in the use of cruciferous crops, such as broccoli, rape, mustard and other plant residues, to control plant soil borne diseases, It is the first time to put forward and establish a new green control technology model for Cotton Verticillium wilt control in China, which is the broccoli cotton double cropping mode in one year.

    Ma Ping introduced that this model can effectively reduce the number of Cotton Verticillium wilt pathogens in the soil, improve soil nutrients, improve soil microbial community diversity, and make the soil develop toward a healthy type, so as to effectively control cotton Verticillium Wilt and increase cotton yield.

    Through the experiment and demonstration in Chengan, Quzhou and other major cotton planting counties, the advantages of broccoli cotton double cropping mode in one year have been continuously highlighted. According to statistics, the control effect of this model on Verticillium Wilt of cotton varieties with different resistance ranged from 45.5% to 98.9%. Compared with summer sown cotton without broccoli, the yield per mu can be increased by 18.4% to 31.4%. From the perspective of economic benefits, the total income of broccoli cotton double cropping mode per mu can reach more than 5900 yuan, which is significantly improved compared with the single planting of summer cotton.

    Relevant experts believe that the mode has the advantages of high yield, repeatable and sustainable, which can ensure the green production of cotton and the safety of ecological environment, improve the comprehensive benefits of the cotton industry, stabilize the cotton planting area, and promote the diversified development of the production mode in the main production areas of cotton field, which can be popularized and applied in suitable cotton areas.
