Sun Ruizhe Attended The Council Meeting Of The International Textile Federation And Delivered A Speech

On February 9, the Council meeting of the International Federation of textile manufacturers was held online at 18:00 Beijing time.

Representatives from nearly 20 countries and regions, including China, South Korea, India, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, Kenya, Egypt, Russia, Germany and Switzerland, attended the meeting. This is the first international textile union working conference in 2021. The meeting was presided over by Christine Schindler, President of IFN.

Sun Ruizhe, chairman of the International Textile Federation and President of the China Textile Industry Federation, delivered a speech at the meeting (attached with the full text). He talked about the world economic situation and the operation situation of China's textile industry, put forward the general requirements for the work of the International Textile Federation in 2021, and made clear the key tasks, which pointed out the direction for the International Textile Federation to lead the global textile industry to open up, cooperate and innovate.

Dear directors and friends,

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening!

On the occasion of the opening of the Council meeting of the International Textile Federation, on behalf of the board of directors of the International Textile Federation and China Textile Federation, I would like to express my warm congratulations on the opening of the meeting! My sincere regards to the delegates!

Last October, I was honored to accept the appointment of the management committee as the new chairman of the international textile Union. After taking up the new post, I have received enthusiastic letters from colleagues and friends from all over the world. Thank you for your congratulations and expectations for my future work.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you the situation of China's textile industry. Under the test of new crown pneumonia, the operating income, total profit and fixed assets investment of textile enterprises above Designated Size in China's textile industry decreased by 9.7%, 8.6% and 18% respectively year-on-year. The balance and stability of industrial recovery are facing severe challenges. However, at the same time, the industry showed strong resilience, and soon formed the production and supply capacity of emergency prevention and control materials such as protective masks, medical protective clothing and isolation clothing, which contributed to the global fight against the epidemic situation and the rapid recovery of domestic economy.

In 2020, the total export volume of textiles and clothing will reach 291.22 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year growth of 9.6%. The export scale is close to the best level in 2014. The total profit of industrial textile industry increased by 218.6% year-on-year; the total profit of home textile industry increased by 21.7%; in terms of export of epidemic prevention materials, China exported 224.2 billion masks from March to the end of December 2020, equivalent to providing nearly 40 masks for each person of the world population outside China.

From the global point of view, the sudden outbreak of new crown pneumonia is rampant all over the world. In the face of the epidemic, the International Textile Federation (IFA) acted quickly, strengthened the situation study and judgment, timely released industry information, continued to voice for global supply chain stability and industrial safety, promoted manufacturers and purchasers to fulfill their social responsibilities in the epidemic, fully reflected its organizational action power, and injected positive energy into the recovery of the global textile industry.

At present, the global epidemic is still spreading. The rise of unilateral protectionism and the adverse wind of globalization have accelerated the global economic downturn. Despite the timely relief measures introduced by all countries, the recovery momentum of the world economy is still very unstable, and there is still great uncertainty in the future. In this context, how should we textile people act or respond? I have the following two thoughts:

First, adhere to openness and cooperation.

We should look at the work of the international textile Union from the strategic perspective of maintaining and practicing multilateralism and sustainable development, promote the open, inclusive, balanced and win-win development of the industry, and make fighting against the epidemic situation, promoting economic recovery and coping with climate change as the priority areas of the work of the international textile Union in 2021.

We should continue to carry out anti epidemic cooperation, ensure the production and supply of emergency prevention and control materials such as protective masks and medical protective clothing, and ensure the life safety of people and medical personnel in all countries.

We should maintain the multilateral trade system, promote the global industrial chain supply chain to restore safety and smooth, reduce trade barriers, and help the global textile economy recover as soon as possible; the International Textile Federation should guide the industry to actively respond to global climate change and reduce carbon emissions, and apply the concept of green development through the links of materials, design, research and development, production and circulation, so as to build a more responsible and more resilient industry Industrial value chain.

Second, be bold in innovation.

It is the responsibility of IFN to ensure that all components of its system interact actively, including member enterprises from all over the world, industry bodies, regional and international partners, as well as the Secretariat in Zurich. I believe that through innovative development concepts and operation modes, and flexible and diversified industrial activities, the International Textile Federation can play a role in promoting interconnection, promoting green development and supporting technological progress, so as to make the mission of "connecting members, informing members and representing the industry" a reality. To this end, the International Federation of spinning and weaving should:

1. Continue to improve and enhance the industry research, statistics, research and publishing work;

2. Set up and award honorary awards to help the industry achieve breakthroughs in science and technology innovation, management, social contribution and cooperation;

3. Timely start the construction of think tanks to boost the industry's practice and innovation in fiber materials, green manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing and other fields;

4. Promote standardization, which is related to industry integration, compliance, interests and cooperation. In 2021, we will actively promote cooperation projects with organizations and institutions such as SLCP, SCI, Giz, IAF and star network.

Directors, friends, strong members make a strong organization.

I sincerely hope that in the years to come, as always, you will continue to actively promote the development of the International Textile Federation and consolidate and strengthen the friendship and cooperation of the global textile industry.
