Mr. Cheng Qihe, former president of the International Textile Federation,

Colleagues and friends of the International Textile Federation, ladies and gentlemen: Hello!

Every two years, the president of the international textile Union holds a handover ceremony, and expresses thanks to the previous presidents who have contributed to the better development of the international textile Union. They deserve our respect!

I would like to pay tribute to the perseverance of the former chairman, Mr. Cheng Qihe. Especially since the outbreak of the Xinguan epidemic, he has led a united, responsible and influential International Textile Federation, and I will continue to move forward in this spirit. I would like to thank Mr. Peter Kentucky and I, Mr. Peter Kentucky, who are leaving the board of directors of IFN. They are old members of the International Textile Federation, and their work is excellent. Thank you for their support and contribution over the years.

At this special moment, I would also like to express my deep respect to all textile colleagues in the world who have made great efforts to fight the epidemic. I believe that the epidemic will eventually be overcome!

The 116 year old International Textile Federation is an important platform to enhance industrial consensus and strengthen global value chain cooperation. It plays an irreplaceable role in promoting global textile and clothing industry innovation and sustainable development, and occupies an important position in the history of world textile development. It is a great honor for me to take over the presidency of the International Textile Federation and serve the global textile industry.

Over the past two years, under the leadership of chairman Cheng Qihe and the joint efforts of Dr. Schindler, the Secretariat and other members, the work of the International Textile Federation has been steadily advancing. In particular, since the outbreak of the Xinguan epidemic, the International Textile Federation has strengthened the situation study and judgment, released industry information in a timely manner, continuously voiced its voice for global supply chain stability and industrial safety, and promoted manufacturers and purchasers to fulfill their social responsibilities in the epidemic. These effective work has injected positive energy into the recovery of the global textile industry.

At present, the world has not yet come out of the haze of the epidemic. For a long time to come, we will face a series of governance problems across countries, nationalities, races and generations, such as the pressure of global supply chain cooperation, the sharp contraction of trade and investment, the massive loss of jobs, geopolitical conflicts and global climate change. We need to soberly realize that the prosperity enjoyed by mankind today is based on the evolution of civilization, technological progress and historical wisdom. We must follow the trend and carry out our work with a more open and pragmatic attitude. Together, we can do this.

We should practice the concept of people first, safeguard the rights and dignity of global textile people as investors, workers and consumers, and safeguard social equity. We should uphold the spirit of openness and inclusiveness, and jointly maintain a stable and smooth industrial chain and a fair and open trade and investment environment. We should embrace a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial reform, explore the digital and intelligent path of the industry, and effectively promote the innovation and sustainable development of the global textile industry. We should participate in global climate governance, practice social responsibility, and contribute to the "green recovery" of the world economy after the outbreak.

Dear colleagues

Looking forward to the future, we need to seriously consider: what kind of international organization does the global textile industry need? How should the international textile union play a better role?

The answer is clear: the global textile industry needs the International Textile Federation.

FIFA has the ability and advantages to grasp the industry trend with high quality and specialization from the global perspective, influence the enterprise decision-making and government policy direction, and guide the healthy development of the industry.

In the future, we should inherit the fine traditions and working practices formed in the long-term practice of the International Textile Federation, improve the credibility and executive power, so as to improve the governance level of the global textile industry.

At the same time, the International Textile Federation will, as always, uphold the concept of cooperation, enrich the communication mechanism and content among its members, strive to expand the common interests of members of all countries (regions) and build a harmonious and cooperative textile family.

Here, I put forward three suggestions

First, we should start the construction of think tanks and strengthen research and publication;

Second, set up annual awards to encourage innovation and contribution;

The third is to promote the formulation of standards and promote integration and standardization.

Thank you for your trust and support. Congratulations to Mr. srinivasen, Mr. Juan Parris and Mr. Ernest Maurer on their election to the Executive Board of the International Textile Federation. Congratulations to all the re elected and newly elected board members.

I will work with you, as well as other colleagues of the International Textile Federation (Dr. Schindler, members of the Secretariat), all members of the international textile Union and my China Textile union team, to continue to work hard for the better development of the international textile Union and to work together to create a better future.
