Cotton Production Shrinks And Textile Industry Readjusts
Thirty years ago, Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, was the main cotton producing area in inland China. With the expansion of cotton planting area year by year, a wave of textile enterprises has sprung up in the local area, and many cotton textile enterprises have been born.
Since 2015, great changes have taken place in Yancheng area of Jiangsu Province, and the cotton planting area has decreased year by year. By 2019, the cotton planting mode in Yancheng area of Jiangsu Province has gradually changed from integrated production to scattered fragmentation production. Today's "big cotton province" has been planted. Due to the shortage of production resources, the purchasing market of lint has gradually become cold. Due to the scarcity of raw materials and the shortage of operating funds, the local ginning plants have closed down and transformed one after another. The remaining textile enterprises only rely on cotton vendors to purchase raw materials from rural areas, which increases the cost and sometimes fails to meet the standard.
According to the analysis of local cotton farmers, the main reasons for the decline of cotton production in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province are as follows: first, weather factors. It is understood that due to the local plum rain season and severe weather such as typhoons in summer, cotton is seriously affected by natural disasters, and cotton farmers' willingness to plant cotton is reduced year by year; second, the local cotton planting varieties are different, resulting in poor cotton sales in the later stage; Third, the income of cotton is relatively low. Compared with other crops, the labor cost and non mechanization cost of cotton planting are relatively high. Local cotton farmers have changed to corn, wheat, rice and other crops or go out to work.
Due to the decrease of cotton production year by year in this province, many local cotton ginning plants have closed down for transformation. In addition, affected by the domestic epidemic situation at the beginning of 2020, some textile enterprises are facing the phenomenon of shutdown. Up to now, the local textile factories are mainly responsible for the production of yarn, and up to now, the local textile enterprises are mainly responsible for the normal production of yarn.
The person in charge of another 50000 spindle spinning enterprise told the reporter that the enterprise mainly produces medium and high-end yarn. Affected by the foreign epidemic situation, the yarn export was seriously hindered, but the domestic sales were good. Although it was down compared with the same period last year, it could still maintain 80% of the start-up rate. It is understood that the enterprise's raw material inventory is about 25 days, yarn inventory is about 35 days. As the enterprise mainly produces medium and high-end yarn, it did not participate in the bidding of reserved cotton during the rotation period of the reserved cotton, and the raw material procurement was mainly Xinjiang cotton.
