Pakistan Should Fully Tap Its Trade Potential With China

According to a comment by Pakistan's Tribune express on July 20, China is the largest source country of Pakistan's imports and the second largest export market of Pakistan's products, accounting for 7%, second only to 16.7% of the United States. The Chinese government has been encouraging the expansion of trade with Pakistan, hoping to import more goods from Pakistan. Pakistan is an important importer of cotton and rice to China. China has a large demand for Pakistan's potatoes, mangoes and citrus fruits. However, compared with Pakistan, China has a larger trade volume of agricultural products with India, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries. Minerals and gemstones are another potential trade growth point, and Chinese importers have begun to pay attention to the gold and copper resources in Pakistan.

In particular, Pakistan's prime minister said that China and Pakistan will enjoy the largest free trade system for China's textile exports in January 2020.

In order to expand its trade with China, Pakistan can take measures in the following aspects: first, from the export of raw materials and simple manufactured goods to high value-added products, which can not only increase export income, but also expand domestic employment.
