Hotel Disposable Plastic Articles Are Prohibited From Use, Including Express Packaging.

In April 10th, the NDRC website information showed that the NDRC had made public comments on the list of plastic products banned, restricted, produced, sold and used (Draft). Among them, the non degradable plastic packaging bags in the express plastic packaging, non degradable disposable plastic woven bags, etc. are included in the list of prohibited and restricted plastic products such as hotels, hotels, disposable plastic articles, etc.

It is also mentioned in the draft catalogue that by the end of 2020 and the end of 2022, the prohibition of the use of non degradable disposable plastic tableware did not include catering and takeaway service.

Earlier, the national development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of ecology and environment issued the "opinions on Further Strengthening the management of plastic pollution". Accordingly, the national development and Reform Commission has drafted the catalogue of plastic products that are prohibited, restricted in production, sale and use (Draft for Soliciting Comments) and has publicly solicited opinions. The national development and Reform Commission said the catalogue has refined the policy boundaries and implementation standards for the production, sale and use of plastic products in various fields.

In June 1, 2008, the general office of the State Council issued the "plastic limit order" regulation: from June 1, 2008 onwards, the production, sale and use of plastic shopping bags with thickness less than 0.025 millimeters were prohibited throughout the country. In all supermarkets, shopping malls, retail markets and other commodity retail establishments, the system of paid use of plastic shopping bags shall not be provided free of charge.

It is understood that the aim is to restrict and reduce the use of plastic bags and curb "white pollution".

Data show that from 2008 to 2016, plastic shopping bags used in major commodity retail establishments in China amount to about 70 billion, saving about 8 billion 750 million per year. However, in 2016 alone, the national express delivery industry consumed about 14 billion 700 million plastic bags. The top three takeaway platforms in China consume at least 7 billion 300 million plastic packages a year, which consumes far more than that of retail stores.

Statistics show that in 2019, China's express delivery volume reached 63 billion, with 45 express packages per person. This year, the volume of China's express delivery business will exceed 70 billion.
