The fashion industry in New York has received a subsidy of US $14 million to expand the Fashion Manufacturing Initiative (FMI), including a new pilot grant scheme designed to encourage American designers to increase production and labor motivation in New York.

New York City Economic Development Corp (New York City Eco) Nomic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced in October 3rd (2019) that the expansion plan will start the local production fund. The plan will strengthen the match between the designer and the integral New York manufacturer, and help the designers and manufacturers of the plan to cooperate in the production process.

The local production fund aims to promote the use of the technology through the existing FMI funding fund to build innovative technology investment, and to strengthen the relationship between designers and manufacturers, and to create a more consistent production for New York manufacturers.

The FMI funding fund started in 2013 and has helped 33 New York fashion manufacturers to invest and acquire new machines and technologies, which can directly affect their products and services, and greatly increase customer base and improve business efficiency. FMI's expansion plan seeks to build its momentum and momentum in the past six years.

In order to expand the opportunities for training and labor development for the next generation of fashion manufacturers, the CFDA will also work with the Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center (ISAIC), which is the National Sewing Trade Institute of the United States, aiming at establishing a customized plan for New York's labor force.

"Through apprenticeship practice and advanced technology training, we saw opportunities in technical guidance and on-the-job training. The workforce plan with manufacturers is applicable to workers with different backgrounds, experience and educational level.

James, President and chief executive of NYCEDC, said: "the fashion manufacturing industry plan (FMI) helps New York's index fashion industry prepare for the future, with more than doubled investment to ensure that the industry's development can be sustained and successful." FMI The new expansion plan will promote substantial growth in key training, give participants opportunities and will continue to support the development of fashion manufacturing in New York. "

Steven Kolb, President and chief executive of CFDA, added: "we will continue to address the diversification and changing needs of New York. We have designed a full range of programming software to update the fashion industry plan." We plan to build a new customer growth pipeline to train workers, and we ensure that we maintain and retain competitiveness at the workforce level, which will help consolidate the resources and development of the overall business of the manufacturer. "

The expansion of the fashion manufacturing industry (FMI) was part of the New York Municipal Council's adoption of a full package plan in December (2018), which aims to support the fashion manufacturers of the Garment Center (New York garment Centre) and allow the region to play the potential of its mixed use community, including the manufacturing space with the functions of office, wholesale and exhibition rooms.
