Amazon Openly Sells "Hong Kong Independence" T-Shirts, UK Websites Are Still Open For Sale.
After Versace, Carl Chi and Givenchy were discovered by netizens suspected of disrespecting China's sovereignty, Nandu reporters noticed that around 4 p.m. on August 14th, netizens were constantly exposing Amazon's "Hong Kong Independence" T-shirt through screenshots.
The reporter registered on Amazon's US website around 6 p.m., and found that the T-shirt was not available for sale. However, at least 10 T-shirts were sold openly in its UK website. These T-shirts almost marked "sold by Amazon". Reporters contacted the Amazon China for the first time, but they could not be contacted for comment.
"Amazon sells its own clothes on the platform in Hongkong," the reporter noted. At about 4 p.m. in August 14th, a netizen released a screenshot of a T-shirt sold on the Amazon platform with the words "independent of Taiwan".
In the screenshots taken by netizens, the reporters found that the words "FREE HONG" and the Hongkong Special Administrative Region flag were printed on the "Hong Kong Independence" T-shirt, including a T-shirt that "stained" our national emblem, putting the words "Hongkong refueling" and smeared images of our national emblem together.
In addition, a T-shirt spliced the US flag and the regional flag of the Hongkong Special Administrative Region to support the "Hong Kong Independence". At 14 p.m. around 5 p.m., when the reporter registered on Amazon's US website, the T-shirt was still on sale, and the T-shirt was named "HONG KONG ROOTS TSHIRT/Half American Flag/HONGERS SHIRT".
In response to the screenshots of Chinese netizens, Amazon's US website responded, and at 14 p.m. 6, the last suspected T-shirt was missing. But its Web site in the United Kingdom is still "dead," and is still selling more than 10 "Hong Kong alone" T-shirts before the press release.
It is worth noting that the reporter randomly selected 10 "Hong Kong Independence" T-shirts on Amazon's UK website. After selecting sizes, the T-shirts showed "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon" (sent and sold by Amazon), and as of August 15th, the above "Hong Kong Independence" T-shirts are still being sold publicly.
