According to the information of the Ministry of Commerce in July 17th, in order to coordinate the related work of China International Import fair, we promptly and accurately grasps the supply and demand of major consumer goods. The Ministry of Commerce launched a statistical survey on the supply and demand of 10 major consumer goods, such as food, clothing, shoes and caps, in March 2019 -5. Among them, the circulation enterprises (mainly physical stores) fill in the statistics of the supply situation of major consumer goods, and consumers fill in the statistical questionnaires of the demand for major consumer goods.

The survey results showed that:

First, the supply of consumer goods is mainly made in China, and the demand for consumers is strong.

75.2% of the circulation enterprises accounted for over 50% of domestic consumer goods sales, which was basically the same as last year. 79.6% of consumers bought imported consumer goods, of which 41.7% of consumers bought imported consumer goods, accounting for more than 10% of their purchases of similar consumer goods. According to the category, the proportion of consumers who purchase cosmetics, maternity products and watch glasses is relatively high.

Two, enterprises and consumers will increase their willingness to import more than reduce their willingness to import.

In the coming year, 9.7% of enterprises plan to increase imports of consumer goods, 2.5 percentage points higher than those planned to reduce imports. In the next six months, 24.1% of consumers said they would increase the purchase of imported consumer goods, which is 3.2 percentage points higher than the proportion of consumers who buy less. For food, mother and baby products, cosmetics, watch glasses, jewellery and passenger car 6 categories of consumer goods, consumers will increase their desire to purchase more than reduce their willingness to buy.

Three, consumer goods import is more concerned with brand, safety and design.

Most of the 10 categories of consumer goods imported from enterprises are concerned about brands, and imported food and maternal and infant products are considered safety. Import clothing, shoes and hats and jewelry are favored by design factors. Consumers pay attention to safety when buying food, mother and baby products, cosmetics and passenger cars. They buy clothing shoes and hats, watch glasses and jewelry, and pay attention to design and style factors.

Four, the increased supply of enterprises is basically matched with consumer demand.

The category of consumer goods with stronger import intentions coincides with that of consumers with strong import demand. Specifically include: fresh fruit, fresh milk, seafood, health products, sportswear, sports shoes, infant food, baby diapers, shampoo products, skin care products, cosmetics, oral care products, watches, glasses, sunglasses, diamond accessories, new energy vehicles.
