Beijing: Eight Li Zhuang Studio To Retain Textile Memory

Chaoyang District eight Li Zhuang Street recently launched the "worsted and fine woven" cultural construction project, and set up a textile female craftsman studio.

By collecting old textile objects, sorting out old textile workers' oral history, and so on, we can trace textile memories and reproduce the history of textiles.

When the site was launched, Liu Zuoqin donated his own textile old objects.

"I am the old eight Li Zhuang people, very sentimental to these things, they have witnessed the historical changes in the eight Li Zhuang area."

Looking at the spinning drill in hand, Liu Zuoqin, who once worked in Beijing cotton two factory, said emotionally, "now spinning is mechanized and automated, and such small parts are almost no longer used.

But such a small tool carries the history of eight Li Zhuang, and needs to be preserved.

Liu Zuoqin donated more than 10 old objects to the newly established textile female craftsman studio, including library card, work permit, spinning drill, spindle and so on.

In the early days of the founding of new China, three large cotton mills were set up in the eight Li Zhuang area, ending the history of cloth and yarn in Beijing.

Liang Huilan, director of the worsted fine weaving project, said that in addition to collecting old objects, the eight Li Zhuang Street office has also set up a textile female craftsman studio, with hand knitted group and sewing group.

At the same time, a volunteer team will be set up to look for old textile workers, and to reproduce the plain and simple textile life through many pictures such as pictures, videos, and texts through old textile workers' oral history.
