Upgrading Cotton Quality Will Change Domestic Cotton Market Supply Structure

Recently, the cotton production situation in Xinjiang has been exchanged with relevant institutions and professionals in the new year.

Judging from the obvious characteristics of Xinjiang's cotton market in the new year, it shows the characteristics of continuous drop in area, increase in yield per unit area, improvement in quality, optimism of cotton growers and prudence of cotton ginning plants.

Among them, the upgrading of cotton quality will change the supply structure of domestic cotton market, boost the overall price of cotton and increase the income of cotton farmers.

In 2014, the cotton planting area in Xinjiang was 29 million mu, and the planting area decreased by 4 million 650 thousand mu to 24 million 350 thousand mu in 2015. The planting area decreased by 1 million 500 thousand mu to 22 million 850 thousand mu this year.

According to the experience of production estimation in the past years, and the actual cotton planting area in Xinjiang this year may be higher than the statistical data of cotton agencies concerned around the country, the cotton output in Xinjiang is expected to be between 3 million 600 thousand and 3 million 800 thousand tons this year.

The reason for the continuous decline of planting area is that in 2014 and 2015, the key is the seed cotton purchase price is too low. In addition, in these two years, there were also some disastrous weather in some parts of Xinjiang, resulting in a decline in cotton yield per unit area, which reduced the income of cotton farmers. Some cotton farmers reduced their cotton planting area and changed corn (1452, 22.00, 1.54%), wheat and other crops in order to reduce losses.

Why does the cotton planting area continue to decline this year? The difference is different from the previous two years.
