The Ministry of trade said that the import licence system was abolished because the importer did not declare the actual import data of the product within 6 months, or the importer did not import any 6 consecutive months.

The Ministry of trade continued to say that the abolition of the foregoing importer's permit would create a more orderly import environment to facilitate the development of domestic industries.

Trade Department officials said that the application of the measure would be extended to other imported products, and the importers of horticulture and meat products would violate the periodic declaration requirements in the future. The Department would also consider taking measures to abolish the permit.
