Italy Leather Industry Ranks First In EU Output Value

Anna Sobczak, a policy officer of the enterprise and industry division, recently released the list of top five countries in the European Union on leather, leather bags and leather shoes. Italy ranked the top of the three lists.

She announced the list recently at the Leather is My Job Symposium in Bucharest, Romania.

According to the EU official statistics agency (Eurostat), she said that in 2013 the leather industry in Italy produced more than 1 billion euros worth of finished leather.

Spain is in line.

However, the gap between Italy and China is very large, and the finished leather is worth 129 million euros.

Followed by Germany, Britain and France, they produced 1.16 million, 83 million and 81 million euros of finished leather, respectively.

Italy also has a good performance in the field of leather bags, which has achieved a value of 1 billion 600 million euros.

France subsequently gained more than 1 billion 200 million euros in output value.

Britain, Germany and Spain followed by the 170 million, 166 million and 1.46 billion euros respectively.

In the field of shoemaking, Italy is also the leader.

In 2013, the output value of footwear industry in Italy was close to 3 billion 100 million euros, while Spain ranked second, 644 million euros.

Germany ranked three or four, creating 590 million and 440 million euros respectively.

To the satisfaction of the local audience, Romania shoes ranked fifth, with a gross value of 319 million euros in 2013.
