What Is Ma Doing After IPO?

Affirming Internet value investment, big data investment young people

Ma Yun did not disclose the specific strategy of Ali in the future, although the market generally expected that after IPO, Ali will accelerate the pace of mergers and acquisitions, aiming at overseas markets including the United States.

It shows how the future depends on what partners, and Ali will continue to choose to go forward with SMEs.

"Our achievements today started 15 years ago. If we ask what will happen after ten years, it will depend on what choices we will make now."

Ma Yun said he had talked with executives of WAL-MART, the world's largest retailer, a few years ago, when he asserted that 10 years later, people will get used to shopping on the Internet, and the electricity supplier will do more than WAL-MART.

By the time of press release, WAL-MART's market value was $243 billion 600 million, while Alibaba, which had just been listed for third days, was 214 billion 900 million dollars, almost the same.

In addition to affirming the commercial value of the Internet, Ma also affirmed the educational function of the Internet for young people.

Ma Yun said that the Internet is the best university for young people in this era, because Internet information is free and can link the world.

Ma Yun also emphasized that the age of IT (Information Technology) is changing to the age of DT (data technology), which is characterized by serving the public and stimulating productivity.

"It's the core concept of data technology age that you will succeed only if you succeed."

When asked how to balance business development and social responsibility, Ma said that business and charity could be combined into one, and the business model itself could be socially responsible.

Take the electricity supplier represented by Alibaba as an example, through cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises to help entrepreneurs who lack social resources, it is a manifestation of social responsibility of an enterprise itself.

When talking about how a Chinese entrepreneur shouldering his social responsibilities in the mainland, the key words mentioned by Ma include environmental protection, food safety, education for young people, etc.

He said that the problem of pollution in China has caused widespread concern in society. "We can not make money, but we finally give it to the hospital", and environmental protection needs the joint efforts of the whole society.

He further said that although many people are now questioning whether China can effectively manage the environmental problems, it is as if someone once questioned whether he could succeed in developing electricity suppliers in China in 15 years.

And he believes in young people.
