In April 2012, the above five environmental organizations began a dialogue with 49 Chinese and foreign clothing brands, asking if they understood the environmental performance of the supply chain, including dyeing and finishing (printing and dyeing, finishing) suppliers.

Since then, 30 enterprises have communicated with environmental protection organizations.

In order to understand each brand's environmental management of dyeing and finishing suppliers, in September 25th, the environmental protection organization once again sent a letter to 49 home textile brand enterprises, hoping that they could explain the environmental management problems of materials suppliers.

"As of October 7, 2012, 17 enterprises responded to this.

Among them, H&M, NIKE, Yida, WAL-MART, Levi's, Adidas, Burberry, Gap and other 17 brands overall performance is positive; Lafuma, Target, Tesco, Zara, UNIQLO, Puma and other 10 general performance.

Ma Jun, director of the public environment research center, said 22 of them were negative, 19 of them did not make any response, and 3 only made a perfunctory response.

According to environmental protection organizations, 19 enterprises that do not respond include Disney, Polo Ralph Lauren, 31st degree, Kappa, Anta, Messi general merchandise, Armani, Calvin Klein, Carrefour and other businesses and brands.

Environmental protection organizations believe that the lack of management of these suppliers objectively promotes pollution enterprises to reduce environmental costs to win orders, and ultimately damage the health of China's environment and community people.

In the same month, the Shaoxing Environmental Protection Bureau issued the "Notice of rectification and rectification", which required Zhejiang to resume the normal operation of the waste water treatment facilities before March 20th. "Martha stores use their concepts of" zero waste "and" carbon neutralization "to decorate their performance, while allowing pollution emissions from the production process of the supply chain to cause damage to the environment and communities.

Appeals to multinational corporations to shoulder social responsibilities

According to their investigation, the five environmental protection organizations still occupy the most important position in the world in textile and raw materials processing.

China is still expected to be the world's factory for textile materials processing and production for a long time.

Environmental organizations believe that the disorderly development of the textile industry will lead to the growth of water and energy consumption and increase of pollutant emissions.

"Law enforcement is lax, environmental supervision is weak, environmental litigation is difficult, and the price of water and other resources is low, which results in the lack of emission reduction power for dyeing and finishing enterprises. A large number of dyeing and finishing enterprises have serious waste water and exhaust emissions, and even difficult to achieve a stable environmental compliance."

Environmental protection organization said that China is currently facing serious water pollution and air pollution.
