Turkey hopes to promote the leather trade between Turkey and the Far East through this exhibition. Since its first exhibition in 1998, China International Leather Exhibition has provided excellent opportunities for exhibitors to export their products to the Chinese market.

In 2011, the exhibition attracted more than 1000 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions.

The number of exhibitors on 2012 China International Leather Fair is expected to continue to grow.

The increasing number of international leather manufacturers and leather companies participating in the fair shows that these manufacturers recognize that China has an inseparable relationship with them as an important leather market.

Although the global economy is experiencing difficulties in some areas, China is no exception, but China is the only economy that can maintain relatively high growth and has new demands for leather.

With the support of the association of exporters of leather and leather products of Turkey and the support of the Turkey leather Committee, Turkey has the honour to become an exhibition.

At that time, more Turkey leather enterprises are expected to participate in the exhibition, and the space of the Turkey Pavilion will also expand by 25%.

Therefore, it is estimated that the number of Turkey Company participating in the exhibition will be increased to 50. The booth of the exhibitors in Turkey will be distributed in the E1, E2 and E3 pavilions with the exhibition area of 1239, 27 and 120 respectively.

There will be 4 leather chemicals companies and 2 leather machinery companies in the E3 Pavilion, and another 44 leather semi-finished companies and leather garment enterprises will display their products at E1 hall and E2 Pavilion.

Lemi Tolunay, chairman of Istanbul leather and leather products exporters association (IDMIB) and chairman of Turkey leather Committee (TLC), expressed appreciation for Turkey's "theme exhibitor" and said the move would open the door to the Chinese market.

Tolunay explained that Turkey is one of the leading countries in leather industry and leather export.

He added that the export of leather products in Turkey ranks second in the world leather industry and surpasses many of Europe's competitors.

Mr. Tolunay noted that eco-friendly production processes, outstanding leather quality testing and elegant and exquisite product design have made a significant contribution to enhancing Turkey's leather export strength. He also stressed that Turkey leather brand can be ranked among the top leather manufacturers in the world in terms of technology, design and quality.

Mr. Tolunay further pointed out that the leather industry in Turkey created a total export volume of US $1 billion 440 million in 2011, while Turkey's goal was to ensure that the total export of leather reached US $10 billion in 2023.

He continued: "China, China, Hongkong and other Far East countries are all important export markets of Turkey as well as Russia and Europe. Therefore, the Far East is crucial for the Turkey leather industry to achieve these goals.

In fact, Turkey's total exports to China increased by 80%, indicating that we have made significant progress.

With China's Hongkong market, Turkey's total exports of leather to the Far East have reached US $90 million.
