Clothing is an important traditional industry in Guangdong Province. More than 2000 years ago, Guangdong was already a port for China's foreign trade. In the Tang Dynasty, the Maritime Silk Road "Guangzhou to the Sea Road" was built. At the beginning of the reform and opening up, due to the adjustment of the industrial structure of the world, especially Hong Kong, a large number of garment processing enterprises were transferred to the mainland of China. Guangdong took advantage of its geographical advantages adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao, relied on the development idea of "introduction, absorption and innovation", and actively introduced advanced technology, advanced equipment and advanced experience, so that the garment industry maintained a high growth rate. Garment industry has played the role of main industry, leading industry, foreign exchange earning industry, employment industry and wealth making industry in the industrialization process of Guangdong Province, and is one of the nine pillar industries in the province.

Over the past 30 years since the reform and opening up, Guangdong's garment industry has been based on extensive scale expansion and development, which has consolidated the industrial foundation, formed its own industrial characteristics, established a prominent position in the national textile industry, Guangdong's economy and domestic and foreign markets, and become a well deserved garment province in China. Over the years, its total production and export have ranked first in the country. At present, Guangdong has Clothing enterprises There are more than 30000, about 3000 of which are above the designated size. The products cover more than a dozen categories, including shirts, fashion, jeans, casual clothes, wedding gowns, underwear, children's clothing, etc., forming a relatively complete and large-scale industrial production system. At the same time, the advantages of industrial cluster development are obvious, forming 27 garment characteristic industrial clusters such as Humen Women's Wear, Shaxi Casual Wear, etc., whose economic aggregate accounts for 80% of the textile industry in the province. In 2011, clothing enterprises above designated size in our province completed a total of 5.98 billion pieces of clothing production, accounting for 23.52% of the national total, maintaining the position of the largest clothing production province in China. As of 2011, Guangdong garment industry has 147 "Guangdong Famous Brand Products", 145 "Guangdong Famous Trademarks", 18 "China Famous Trademarks" and 2 "China Export Famous Brands".

This year, due to unstable international economic situation, sluggish external demand market, slowing domestic economic growth, sluggish real consumption growth due to rising unit prices, and rising labor costs, raw material costs and other factors, the clothing industry of our province has entered a critical period of transformation and upgrading. In this regard, the provincial government attaches great importance to it, and specifically instructs the Provincial Economic and Information Commission to take the garment industry as the focus of promoting the transformation and upgrading of the province's traditional industries. Since March, it has carried out research on the transformation and upgrading of the garment industry throughout the province, and formulated the Action Plan for the Transformation and Upgrading of Guangdong's Garment Industry to further promote the transformation and upgrading of the garment industry in Guangdong Province, and promote the healthy, stable Rapid development.

We hope that the majority of garment enterprises can boost their confidence, take this opportunity, according to the work deployment of the provincial party committee and government to adjust the structure, promote transformation and expand domestic demand, take the promotion of "three promotion and one maintenance" as the foothold, take the transformation of economic development mode as the main line, take transformation and upgrading as the direction, take the upgrading, optimization and strengthening as the goal, and take independent innovation as the driving force, By means of information technology, through technological transformation, R&D design, brand promotion, channel expansion and industrial chain integration, we will accelerate the transformation of the development mode of traditional industries from resource consumption oriented to innovation driven, and the transformation of the industrial structure from low value-added general processing oriented to high value-added R&D and marketing oriented, The form of industrial organization has changed from traditional agglomeration to modern industrial cluster and headquarters economy, and the business mode of enterprises has changed from extensive operation to intensive operation, so as to promote the development of advantageous traditional industries into innovative, beneficial, intensive and ecological development mode, and realize the transformation from "Made in Guangdong" to "Created in Guangdong".
