Tibet'S Rapid Growth In Foreign Trade Has Led To Rapid Economic Development.

In the first half of this year, the external trade of Tibet autonomous region increased, the total volume of imports and exports reached 1 billion 16 million US dollars, up 1.7 times compared to the same period last year, and became a "new engine" to boost Tibet's economic growth.

The rapid growth of Tibet's foreign trade benefits from three factors:

First of all, the situation in the surrounding countries of Tibet, especially Nepal, tends to be stable, which has led to the growth of Zhangmu port's export to Nepal.

According to Lhasa customs statistics, between 1 and June this year, the total value of bilateral trade between Tibet and Nepal was $530 million, an increase of 79.5% over the same period last year, accounting for 51.9% of the total import and export value of Tibet in the same period.

Secondly, Tibet's pportation network has been gradually improved, especially the improvement of the Qinghai Tibet railway network.

Exports of footwear, machinery and electrical products and agricultural products to South Asia are more convenient, and re export trade has greatly promoted Tibet's export volume.

In the first half of this year, 20 provinces (cities) of China carried out import and export trade at Zhangmu port.

Third, in recent years, Tibet has made great efforts to develop advantageous and characteristic industries and national handicrafts. More and more Tibet's self produced products have been exported to neighboring countries and regions through border trade. Tibet's self produced products such as mineral water, beer and highland barley wine are very popular, and the trade scale continues to expand.

In the first half of this year, the total value of imports and exports of enterprises in Tibet reached 529 million US dollars, an increase of 79.1%.
