The Quality Of Imported Garments At Shanghai Port Still Has High Security Risks.

Reporters learned that imported clothing, simulation accessories and other officially included in the statutory inspection directory has been one and a half years.

However, the quality inspection departments found that the quality of imported clothing still has high security risks in entry and exit supervision, which needs to be highly valued.

It is understood that Shanghai is the largest in China.

Ports, from 1 to June 2012, imported more than 10 thousand garments at the port of Shanghai, valued at US $248 million, and imported batches were unchanged from 2011, but the import volume increased by 12.7% over the same period last year.

Insiders said that this shows that the import clothing grades gradually improved.

From 1 to June this year, the departments concerned conducted spot checks on imported garments, and the failure rate of quality inspection batches in Shanghai port including safety and hygiene items reached 8.4%, which was 1.75 percentage points higher than the 6.65% unqualified rate in the first half of 2011.

The inspection found that nearly 3000 batches of Chinese clothing labels / labels worth $65 million had problems, and the batches failed to pass the rate of 25.7%.

In the quality inspection of nearly 5000 batches of imported garments for safety and hygiene projects, the inspection and quarantine department found that there were 400 hidden dangers in the imported garments of more than 400 batches and nearly 3 million US dollars worth of goods. The unqualified rate of the sample batches reached 8.4%. The unqualified items mainly involved color fastness, pH value, formaldehyde and so on. Among them, 2 batches of unqualified imported garments were detected with carcinogenic banned azo dyes.

It is known that the Shanghai inspection and Quarantine Bureau has supervised the implementation of rectification or destruction or disposal measures for unqualified products.

During the past one and a half years of statutory inspection of imported garments, the majority of importers have understood and grasps China's rights through continuous and targeted publicity by quality inspection departments.

The mandatory requirements and gradually adjust the quality of Chinese products, but the overall pace of adjustment is still relatively slow.

It is understood that the quality inspection departments have also taken various measures to ensure the quality and safety of imported garments while safeguarding the domestic consumers' rights and interests while optimizing the customs clearance environment.

These measures include: formulating standards for inspection and supervision of imported garments, unified operation, creating a fair, just and pparent inspection and supervision environment; scientific management, through data accumulation, carrying out pre assessment of imported fabrics for enterprises with more import batches, better product quality, stronger management ability, and higher government cooperation, reducing the cost of customs clearance and speeding up the customs clearance of enterprises; in addition, the Shanghai import clothing inspection and supervision demonstration zone will be set up to integrate the procedures of declaration, sampling, inspection, testing and rectification of imported garments, so as to further enhance the efficiency and reduce the cost of enterprises and the administrative cost of the government.
