Opportunity And Crisis Coexist In Tianjin And Shanghai
The Ministry of Commerce has increased the number of MICE industry The importance and support of the government has made decisions on the construction of the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai and Tianjin. However, the problem of site selection of the two National Convention and exhibition centers is not enough. There are still many problems in the location. It will not only cause great difficulties for the future operation of the two centers, but also cause huge investment and waste, and will have a very negative impact on the two cities in Shanghai and Tianjin.
First of all, the location of the Hongqiao National Convention and Exhibition Center is located in the future Hongqiao business district. It is too close to Hongqiao traffic hub, and the north end of Xujing east station on the western end of Metro Line 2. The next two stations are Hongqiao railway station and Hongqiao new terminal building. From Shanghai to convention and Exhibition Center and to Hongqiao transport hub, whether it's highway or subway is the same route, plus the busy traffic flow of Hongqiao business district in the future, this area will become the most congested area in Shanghai. And without logistics, the evacuation time of spectators during the major exhibitions will coincide with the commuter hours of the business district and the concentration periods of the train trains in Hongqiao transport hub, resulting in the superposition of the large number of people in a short time. In such a small area, I am afraid that no measures can be taken to solve the problem. Convention and Exhibition creates fame and vitality and benefits for the city. At the same time, if planning is not good, it will cause huge traffic pressure to the city and bring great inconvenience to the normal working life of the citizens. This is how many exhibition cities in the world have experienced and proved in the past development process. Tokyo, Paris and Milan have all learned painful lessons in this regard. Eventually, the main pavilions (the Ming International Exhibition Centre in Tokyo, Villeurbanne Exhibition Centre in Paris and the New International Exhibition Centre in Milan) are moved to the suburbs, far from the bustling areas in the city.
Shanghai does not need to rely on Convention and exhibition in other countries as the second tier cities. The importance of Hongqiao business district and Hongqiao transport hub to Shanghai is far more than that of mice. As a world metropolis with a population of over twenty million, the daily traffic pressure in Shanghai has been difficult to cope with. In such a super large exhibition hall at a core business and transportation hub in Hongqiao, a super large exhibition can be foreseen, which will have a fatal impact on Hongqiao business district and Hongqiao transport hub.
In addition, there have never been any 2 cities in the world with the same level as the Shanghai, such as the Hongqiao, the National Convention and Exhibition Center and the Pudong New International Expo Center. The competition between the two libraries will make Shanghai in a very awkward dilemma. If the two exhibitions are held at the same time (the exhibition season will definitely appear), the city will be torn in two. City traffic will be blocked by everything, and the city will not be able to stay. Unlike World Expo, Shanghai, the special way of the special period, the entire Yangtze River Delta to escort, tense half a year to end. Normal exhibitions are normal, and you never want to get out of it year after year.
From the point of view of the development of the Yangtze River Delta, Hongqiao Convention and Exhibition Center will become a result of Shanghai's hunger. The second tier cities around Shanghai have already felt great pressure on the construction of Hongqiao Convention and Exhibition Center. Some professional exhibitions that have been transferred to other cities in the Yangtze River Delta are considering returning to Hongqiao after the completion of the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center. Some of the exhibitions that were originally considered to be held in these second tier cities may also end up choosing to settle in Shanghai. If this happens, it will not only be harmful to the cities that are losing, but also very harmful to the balanced development of the exhibition and even the economy in the Yangtze River Delta region. From the perspective of the history and current situation of World Conference and exhibition, most of the famous cities in the world are not in the first tier cities.
The site selection of Tianjin National Convention and Exhibition Center is also very difficult, but the problems ahead are quite different from those of Hongqiao National Convention and Exhibition Center. We say that if the Tianjin National Convention and Exhibition Center is built to serve the whole area around Bohai, it should be selected in the northwest of Tianjin, near the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, Beijing Shanghai Expressway and the main fast track leading to North China and northeast provinces, so as to facilitate the rapid and centralized evacuation of people and logistics. At the same time, it can play a better radiation role in the entire Bohai region. The address of Beiyang village in Jinnan district now seems to focus mainly on the needs of Tianjin itself and the development of Binhai New Area.
Tianjin is no less than Beijing and Shanghai, and its exhibition resources are much less. Tianjin is also different from the second tier exhibition cities such as Shenyang, Chengdu, Xi'an and Zhengzhou. These cities are the absolute trade and exhibition center cities in their respective regions, and have strong radiation effects. And Tianjin is too close to Beijing. The important exhibitions can be run in Beijing, but not in Tianjin. The exhibition circle usually calls it "black under the lights". The local convention and exhibition resources in Tianjin, including the Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center, Binhai Convention and Exhibition Center and Tianjin national exhibition, can be satisfied and not enough to eat. Most of the existing small and medium-sized exhibitions will not be necessary nor put into Jinnan National Convention and Exhibition Center. To support the operation of such a large national convention and Exhibition Center, there must be a large number of large and super large scale exhibition projects, otherwise it will cause huge investment waste and great difficulties in the future operation of the center. The resources of the exhibition are basically in Beijing. The first is the large-scale exhibition activities organized by the Ministry of Commerce and other ministries, which are limited to a large number of large and super large scale exhibitions held by many national professional associations and industry organizations in Beijing. At present, the condition of the Beijing Pavilion is insufficient (the lack of super large exhibition hall), which is unlikely to be solved in a short time, which greatly limits the development of large and super professional exhibitions held in Beijing (such as Beijing motor show, China International Machine Tool Exhibition, Beijing International Construction Machinery Exhibition, China international clothing exhibition, auto supplies and refitted auto show, China Petroleum Chemical exhibition, etc.). This provides an opportunity for Tianjin. If we can seize this opportunity to build a super large exhibition venue first, and at the same time coordinate the integration and rational allocation of venues resources and exhibition resources in Beijing and Tianjin, and achieve mutual benefit or win-win situation, it is possible to win part of the Beijing exhibition resources. The problem is that the Convention and Exhibition Centre is located in Jinnan, far away from Beijing and main traffic roads, which is not conducive to attracting Beijing Convention and exhibition resources.
Shanghai and Tianjin two National Convention and exhibition centers invest a lot and attract a lot of attention. Once decisions are made mistakes, the losses and negative impacts are enormous. For this reason, we suggest that the leaders of the Ministry of Commerce and Shanghai, Tianjin and two cities can attach importance to the above problems, and instruct relevant departments to make further careful assessment and demonstration of the location of the two centers. In the process of demonstration, design and construction of the exhibition center, we must consult experts who hold experience in large and super large exhibitions.
