In the early preparation process of this great show, we went into the rose house to get an in-depth understanding of the efforts of Guo Pei and her team behind a gorgeous show.

Guo Pei: actually, it originated from a wedding dress 50 years ago.

Three years ago, a prospective bride to be married to Hongkong came to me with a wedding dress she passed through her mother-in-law 50 years ago. I hope I can add a few centimeters to the neckline of this dress so that I can wear this wedding dress symbolizing family heritage on my wedding day.

When she put it in the box for the first time

When I took it out, I really felt shocked. Although 50 years ago, the dress was so dazzling. At the first glance, I could see that it was a technique of embroidery.

The mother-in-law said that she had been searching for a famous tailor in Hongkong, but no one could take the job, and I was not sure I could do it, but I still couldn't help it.

So I said to her, "can you leave this dress for me to try?" later, I spent 3 months learning the embroidery technique, looking for the same material and embroidery thread, and carefully figured out the craft, and finally made almost identical one.

After finding the right way, I finally dared to change this 50 year old wedding dress.

I removed the collar of my wedding dress, replaced the right size, and completed this special trust.

When the mother-in-law accompanied her daughter-in-law to take this dress, I knew that the original wedding dress was worn by every daughter-in-law through the family of the old lady, and then kept by a long daughter-in-law. This dress is of great significance to them, and I am deeply moved by it.

When she was about to take her clothes away, I had a deep dislike for a dress for the first time. I saw it over and over again and again and again.

You mentioned Chao embroidery just now.

So when you prepare for this show, do you learn from many folk artists, or are you consciously picking up some of the traditional costume making skills that you will soon lose?

Guo Pei: actually, I didn't do it deliberately.

Just like many people think that to make Chinese dresses, it is necessary to apply the most traditional Chinese elements to my series.

But I am a very open person. I do not think that when it comes to Chinese traditional elements, all elements must be embodied in my clothes at once.

I also appreciate the idea of inclusive design. As long as it is beautiful and vivid, I will apply her to my design.

Without considering whether it is foreign or national.

For example, after watching my one thousand and two night show, some people thought I had used a lot of Spanish elements; but when I asked Spanish guests, they thought the designer of such a costume was designed by them, they answered with one voice: "absolutely Chinese designer, too obvious Chinese elements in it."

So, I know that everyone has his own idea when he looks at a garment, and it does not necessarily need to be deliberately defined as traditional or modern elements.

In the past, your release is presented in the form of T show. Why did you choose to combine static exhibition with T show this time? I believe you have also suffered a lot of pressure.

Guo Pei: I really have suffered a lot of pressure, but my pursuit of perfection will never change.

For the first time, the static exhibition space was built, and the space of ten thousand square meters was built. I had to connect the two parts of the first workshop and the giant tank. The corridor was connected with the tent, and then it was made into a museum form. So this exhibition is quite difficult.

I could have made the announcement before fashion week, but I could only delay the time needed to wait for the top pearl I needed in a costume.

I will not rush to publish in order to catch up with time. Such advanced customization can not be considered in detail.

This show is divided into the Chinese bride static exhibition and the Dragon Story T Taiwan show, because this year is the dragon year, the dragon is also our Chinese totem. I do not use sex to define the dragon. I think everyone must have their own dragon image. In many images of the dragon, my favorite is actually the film of Shrek, with the red lips, the fat, willing to change the lovely dragon for love, I think it is very vivid and very human, and many women in modern society are also very independent. Their strong heart is no less than the male, so she is also a dragon.

Therefore, the Dragon Story T show was born.

The Chinese bride now seems to be a choice on the day of the wedding

Guo Pei: Yes, but for that reason, I want to make a bridal dress belonging to our Chinese bride only.

When I finished that dress, I told my assistant that we wanted to make such meaningful clothes. They agreed.

Because we think it is a pity that such a big country and such a long history do not belong to the wedding dresses that can be passed down. Unfortunately, there are many brides in the world who are wearing the wedding dress of the whole family after marriage. I have an impulse and passion in my heart. I hope that I can make the most beautiful wedding dress to move the Chinese bride in the future, and let them feel the love and inheritance with every beautiful detail of the costumes, in fact, it is also advocating a national spirit.

In your usual guests, do you hope you can design many Chinese wedding dresses for her guests?

Guo Pei: quite a lot.

Perhaps many guests just wanted me to design a wedding dress or dress for her. I never thought she needed a wedding dress.

No one in China can answer what the Chinese wedding dress is, at least two generations do not know. During this period, our culture was faulting, and we lost many traditional things.

But I know that before we move forward, our bride is married.

So I would advise my guest to order such a dress.

When I was a child, I thought that the most beautiful dress must be for the princess, and every woman would have the most beautiful ten minutes in her life. In fact, in the wedding ceremony, I want them to have the expectation on the most important day, and wear the Chinese wedding dress representing our own race and family to show the most beautiful moment in their life.

When I told them the story, they expected more of this dress.

In the past, advanced customization didn't seem to be very well known by the mass consumer group. You always think that your customers are not rich or expensive. Celebrities who are the top halo like performing stars, famous hosts and so on are your target customers. Is it a high standard in China for industrial customization?

Guo Pei: actually, my target audience is everyone.

Because I do not choose clients.

I can satisfy customers' requirements. Customers need a wedding dress. I will not refuse to design wedding dresses for my guests because I prefer to be a Chinese dresses.

In fact, I do not think it is so mysterious. Of course, we also see that we need to give consumers more time to have a better understanding of advanced customization. This industry is still in the breeding stage in China, but we also find that more and more people are beginning to accept the advanced system.

Designing and designing for customers are two different things. When designing, I will express what I want to express, but I will hide myself for customers.

The Chinese market has now become the most important fashion consumer market in the world, and many big names are paying more and more attention to the performance of the Chinese market.

I didn't feel any pressure on Dior to do Gao Ding in China for a while. I think this is a good thing, because their arrival makes more people have a better understanding of advanced customization.

In the past, if I said that my clothes were well done, but they did not know exactly where they were, everyone would not know. But with such an opportunity, more and more consumers would have an intuitive understanding of Gao Ding. Naturally, they would be able to compare their similarities and differences. A person who does well can not represent the prosperity of the industry. I hope more people can join in and help our industry thrive and develop.
