According to the inspection of AQSIQ, the quality of imported garments is not as perfect as people think.

Since January 1, 2011, AQSIQ has imported some garments into compulsory supervision.

The annual unqualified detection rate was 10.2%, of which 861 batches were returned or destroyed due to unqualified safety items.

Inspection and quarantine departments said that the safety and composition indicators of imported clothing were not very qualified. The color fastness and ingredient identification were not consistent. The pH value exceeded the standard and became the "worst hit area". Other unqualified items also involved formaldehyde content exceeding the standard and banned azo dyes.

If clothes are not up to standard, it is hard to see on the surface.

However, due to inadequate rinsing in the finishing process, some harmful substances will be left on textile fabrics."

"In order to label the origin of the brand as the country of origin, the foreign brand clothing business will only leave the final processing procedure in its own country.

Some foreign brand garments are imported into the country in the form of semi finished products which are left behind in the final production process without adding trademarks or lack of zippers, and then enter the sales link after the completion of the OEM in the domestic processing plant.

The reason for this is that the brand origin can be labeled as a country of origin in actual sales.

In addition, the semi-finished products from overseas OEM will be shipped back to the home of the brand, because the price of "semi finished products" is not as pparent as the garments, and the cost is difficult to check, so that part of the import link tax can be circumvented.
