South Korea To Accelerate The "Milan Plan" To Promote Textile Upgrading

In order to promote the upgrading of textile industry in Daegu, the local government recently proposed to speed up the promotion of the "Milan plan", focusing on the development of high value-added projects such as nanofibers, microfibers and smart fibers and digital dyeing engineering, new fashion design, sophisticated textile machinery, and so on, so as to promote Daegu textile.

Daegu is located in the southeast of the Korean Peninsula. It is a famous textile city in South Korea.

As early as in 1998, Daegu formulated the "Daegu and Qinghai north area fiber industry cultivation plan" and put forward the famous "Milan plan", that is, to promote Daegu's clothing and technology to catch up with Germany and Italy, and become the world's textile and clothing power.

However, in the past decade or so, the "Milan plan" has not made Daegu's textile industry develop smoothly.

For various reasons, the government has not really implemented many of the original reform and development measures.

Air jet looms, as the main equipment in weaving, have reduced the number of start-up by about 75% in recent 8~10 years.

Most of the equipment was purchased before the mid 90s of the last century, and has already exceeded the useful life. The aging of equipment has led to a decline in product quality and maintenance costs.

Many enterprises have pferred or sold looms to other countries because of their own benefits, but few enterprises intend to buy new looms again.

To this end, many textile manufacturers and experts asked the government to re-examine the industrial upgrading plan, and start from their own to promote enterprise innovation.

The most important thing is the reform of the internal system, which is concentrated on the younger generation of the middle and high collar.

From the end of last year to the beginning of this year, many enterprises in Daegu have undergone a new round of high-level changes.

The new CEO age is around 30~50 years old, and even family businesses are slowly pferring baton to the second generation.

These young decision-makers are more aware of the importance of talent training than the older generation of entrepreneurs, the close integration of technology and strategy, the need to open up new markets and shape their own image.

Most of them are experts in textile and business fields, so they can quickly grasp the focus of the development of enterprises and lead them to be scientific and competent.

Since the beginning of this year, more than ten major enterprises in Daegu and the Korea Fashion Industry Research Institute have announced that they will take an active part in international famous exhibitions and exchange meetings and make efforts to truly realize the "Milan plan".

Recently, as a representative of Daegu textile enterprises and new type of reform, South Korea's Hui Kong fiber company has signed an order of about 1 million dollars in overseas markets.

A new generation of textile enterprises with a brand new look can lead Daegu to create an industrial miracle again, so that South Korea will eventually stand in the status of fiber power, and will undergo the test of time and market.
